    Hi, you mentioned you didn’t want to introduce another fuel sauce, you wouldn’t because you vehicle is diesel, i have a diesel heater and the ten litre tank lasts a very long time, secondly you can get diesel from service stations where as using gas will run your gas down quickly. Getting bottle swaps or gas refills are not as common as a service station.

      Hi Peter, you’re right. We were trying to avoid adding another fuel source to the van. But if the efficiency of diesel far exceeds that of gas then, you’re right it’s not that much of an inconvenience to top up when we refill the car.
      Definitely need to think about this one.
      Cheers for watching!

    Guys, it seems logical to get a gas heater as you already have gas installed. Our experience is to go a good quality diesel heater. You will find the gas will get consumed quick and you need gas for other appliances on bigger trips. The diesel heater can be left on all the time and just refill the tank when you fill the car. That said the diesel heater is very efficient. Check with others who have experience with both gas and diesel before you make your minds up. Webasto is the diesel heater kit to go with.

      @@AnotherAusAdventure No problems. Most important, when asking around for advice, see that the person advising has experienced both gas & diesel heating and actually used it for extended periods. Next question is to ask what brand and where the heater was purchased as cheap heaters are just that. Van companies love to sell gas heating as it’s more straight forward for them to fit and they have access to a gas installer to sign off. Also, if you decide to go with one or the other check the fan speed and burn can be controlled. Some cheaper diesel heaters and especially gas heaters have a tendency to switch the heat on and off while still pushing air from the outlet. This can then cause a cool draft. A diesel heater needs to have the correct control for start-up and shut down to be reliable. ie the more expensive models such as Webasto

    Thanks for sharing a good video. Yes, it is a real nuisance not having your van at home as it is with no shed or carport for storage. I store my van 2.2 km from home at my Daughters place and put a cover over it. So that's our real bugbear is taking our gear over to the van and removing the cover, removal is relatively easy but putting it on is not.

    • @AnotherAusAdventure
      @AnotherAusAdventure  Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks for watching again Robert. What a lovely daughter you must have! It’s good that the van isn’t too far from you but I understand it would make it no less annoying with loading and unloading the van for each trip.
      We don’t have a cover purely because it’s another thing I don’t think I could tolerate dealing with. But also, I have heard varying arguments for and against with regard to mould accumulating?

    A diesel heater is the way to go in my opinion. The 10L tank will take forever to use, well maybe not forever, but you know. They're very efficient. Happy travels.

    Hi guys, we just found your channel and are really enjoying it. We live in Canberra so we know the cold too. You’re currently in Goulburn and have been down to Nelegen so we figure you can’t be too far away from us? I love the way Zeki (cool name) comes first. If you do go diesel heater please get a good quality one and not a Chinese unit. We’re looking to get one and are currently looking at a European unit from Eberspacher. They’re not cheap ($2300) but if we’re going to be sleeping while it’s on then we want a quality. Cheers, Stuart and Leanne.

      Hi Stuart & Leanne, thanks for checking out our channel! We aren’t too far away, in the Illawarra.
      Thanks for the advice, we are definitely doing our research after seeing all of the votes for diesel heaters.
      Enjoy the rest of your week!

    Great Episode and fantastic to see you back!
    I have a diesel heater and it is the best thing we have, it is so comfortable at night on low .
    Just a thought for keeping your van warm ,you can put the gas oven on and that will take the chill out of the van .
    And how is the Ranger going with towing the van.
    Have a great week. 🍷🍷
    Can you pick up the van one or two days before you head off and pack it up with your food and clothes. And then head off to your holiday adventure.

      Hey Paul, thanks for tuning in again!
      Lots of votes for the diesel heater, we will have to look into it a bit more before we make our decision it seems!
      Ranger is going fantastic, part 1 of the review will be up next week, finally!
      The best we can do with the van is bring it to our house the night before. We live on a hill, in a very narrow street so definitely can’t park it there for longer than overnight unfortunately 😔. We just need to get more efficient in the prep/lead up to the trip and I think it will feel easier.
      Have a great weekend!

    • @Simon-qy7pe
      @Simon-qy7pe Před 4 měsíci

      At times we have left a diesel heater running all day and night at cold locations and consumes very little diesel. Have you run your gas heater for extended periods (days) ? what was the gas consumption ? Do you require gas for your fridge & HWS ?
