Are you implying that all Chinese oximeters are a scam ? That is not the case as I’m using one that works fine and has been checked against another expensive meter and gives the same readings
Thanks for the information.. And you can also include a video by just blocking blood by tieing a rubber band on finger or by pressing around the wrist for some time. If it is duplicate, it will show value.

Don't put pen any other material inside better way put your any finger by putting any rubber band on your finger so supply of oxygen is cut then put your finger carefully observe your finger cover area of beam not in air it will not show any reading try it first.i have tried and got result I also put wooden strick inside it showing reading mainly because of some oxygen inside the wood and also pen has some oxygen the beam should be complete cover not any gap or air entering the area so try first. I tried with different material and got conclusion of proper cover of beam is important otherwise it will show you reading by putting any material inside.lets check with rubber band and give feedback . thanks you doctor for valuable suggestions
Kindly read up about how a pulse oximeter measures oxygen saturation. Wood and pen do not have any oxygen.
I guess mine works fine then. I have the same Chinese oximeter and it doesnt give readings when I put other things on it.
If any Metre changes reading instantly when the finger is in, it is a very high quality meter. All Chinese are not fake. This video is suspected to be a scam.
Oximeter is supposed to be used with fingers, not pen. However, to not detect pen by oximeter, some extra techniques or other device mechanism might be used.
Oximeter are of two types, one in which light penetrates through finger and get detected otherside,
Second is light get reflected and get detect same side of light source.
In first case, light cant penetrate through pen, to reading is not shown but for the 2nd type in which reading is taken by reflection, pen reflect some light which get detected by sensor and show reading,
Every Pulse Oximeter works same with little variation. Only build quality and durability differs
I think it can show a false reading for a second or so but not for long

Thank you Dr...I would like ask I have seen reading on oximeter is fluctuating..from 92 to coming down to 85what does it mean...and also I cross checked with another meter it shows 97and it was constant..pl advise
After putting your finger you have to wait for 10-15 seconds for the value to stabilise. I think the second pulse oximeter which u used would be more reliable. For a normal healthy person the values should not go to 85.

Hello Doctor, I have been bearing up under a heartache for a sizeable stretch of time now. The world around me seems to have come to a standstill to the point of an inescapable rut. But COMPARE results from the real one and that chinese fake sth. I've seen a comparison between Beurer and a chinese blue-white oximeter and they were quite the same so I wouldn't scoff that much from the chinese device cos actually it showed quite the same results.
Additionally pls remember that they're all manufactured somewhere in China, even that German. Mostly thery were made in Shenzhen.
If you learn some basic theory behind the little machine, you will understand why it will show results though you put a pen into it. However it doesn't mean it is fake only because that it will give results for a pen. It only show there is no algorithm inside to distinguish a pen or your finger for that brand or model. I think if it can give correct results after you insert your finger, it's just OK. BTW, I checked all the three recommended brands' links, the first two both made in China, and the last is made in China but re-branded in India.

How about put "fake" and "real" in different fingers at the same time? The "fake" one maybe just don't have finger detection. This device is just a simple LED and sensor.

And sometime showing less then 90 and again comeing 94
That should not happen with a genuine pulse oximeter. Also, if your saturation is less than 90, that is an indication to start oxygen therapy.
