Flat ceiling finish

If you have an older house, chances are that there is popcorn on the ceiling. When renovating or updating the look of your house, one large improvement is to remove the popcorn and then skim coat the ceiling. In this video I show how to scrape the popcorn and apply a skim coat of joint compound to make a smooth ceiling. The ceiling is the most important flat surface in your home-it is not blocked by furniture, wall hangings or rugs so it is fully visible all of the time. Making the ceiling smooth makes it unnoticeable which is exactly what you want to do so visitors (and critics!) notice your interior design and decorations and not your ceiling!
