It’s a adrenaline rush shopping for these things. Having a goal for an item is important. I’ve learned to walk away because I’ve got stuff already. It’s something the creative mind struggles with. Everyone lives Dad that’s a bonus
My husband puts a time limit on my fixer uppers. If I haven’t made my purchase in to something by the deadline, out it goes. He actually takes it out of the house. Keeps me in check, otherwise I fear my home would look like a salvage yard.
I'm trying to convince myself that donating isn't giving up on a dream, but helping someone else realize THEIR dream. Sometimes it works, other times not so much. Wish I had a dad and Bobby!!!

I’m facing the same dilemma. I would save old magazine clippings and have boxes full of inspiration. This was pre computer. Now the task of scanning or tossing. I really want to trim my “stuff “ as I am thinking tiny home. Probably similar in size of Debbie’s apartment.
Same here! Sometimes the clutter drives me crazy! But after cleaning, it just keeps on coming back!

Except I work two unrelated jobs and have PTSD as well as ADHD and my Executive Dysfunction really makes it interesting because I get quite anxious doing housework and decluttering. I wonder how many of us creatives have these conditions. (some or all) I love you for being so upfront about your life and admire ALL you do get done ! Your work is an inspiration !

This is an excellent idea. We do have multiple Buy Nothing groups in this area. Orange County has about 3 million people so there are many such groups and each has their own catchment ( not sure if that’s the word; like a school district) I’m about an hour north of her in Laguna and I belong to one. The groups are on Facebook.
A Buy Nothing Group would love to have Debi as a member.

Your a person after my own heart! I enjoy the same things as your house and wish I had a store for the stuff I need to sell. Oh its so much fun to go to the thrift stores and come home happy and not cost much. I have a motorcycle and telephone booth in my living room and many other loves that I bring home. Enjoy watching what you make and hope to get down to your store sometime.

I have a bit of a hoarding problem myself. After all, if it's good junk, is it really junk? I, unfortunately, don't have a store. I'm out in the country and don't have anyone to really help me with a yard sale, so that makes it a little bit difficult to pair things down. I'm working on it a little bit at a time. My work schedule makes it a little difficult as well. You are lucky to have some wonderful friends and family to help you out. Your dad is most definitely a national treasure, and I think every girl should have a dad like that!

When you feel bad about yourself please remember that you inspire every time you post and long time after this woman in Eastern Europe, Romania. I am mesmerised by your créations and you inspired me to use the colors that I LIKE, not that everybody says one should use, to paint and decorate my house. So... lots of bright blue it is. You have a little wonderland there. I do understand that you feel it is too much clutter but this is how creative people are. We need our stuff and our mess. I do de clutter regularly but I do find myself feeling guilty sometimes.

So, Debi, when you feel bad, remember there is a lady journalist in Romania right on the border with Ukraine that is, who comes home from work after writing about the most terrible things imaginable in a war and relaxes watching videos that you create and creates as well. Oh Debi, I feel for you! I'm in my 60s and I still have the pull to collect stuff! Fortunately, I am mending my wicked ways and have a bunch of stuff out front of my house for free (but no I don't live anywhere near you so you can't come and look! I'm in Canada, remember? Ar-mwahrrrrr.... Keep going, girl. The only way out is through - and you will make it for September 29th! Wish SoCal wasn't so far away - I keep wanting to come and help you. Maybe she needs a decluttering buddy. They can exchange the chore and each has to get rid of what they are told to let go of. They could be strict but not cruel, ‘cause they know the other person would be sorting through their stuff. Even better if they have different personal styles so they won’t be tempted to scoop up what the other one is letting go. I don’t know. Just an idea.

Hi ya Deb . Your Not alone, I’m a terrible hoarder 😩I collect things to do , then months down the track just collecting more and Not doing anything with it . I get such a Buzz when I buy stuff, but that wears off pretty quickly once I’ve put it away .

It's great that you have a deadline for your party, that's what I do when I have a project...invite people over when I'm done. Just remember to relax when your guests come over. No one is perfect and we love you the way that you are. I love how your brain works & how creative it is. You are such a kind soul. 💟💟💟

Just a thought but what if you took all the stuff that is broken or not wanted, etc and put it in one area of your shop so peeps can rummage through it and buy it as is? There might be others who want the broken and discarded things you are trying to get rid of. The might need something for their project. This way you don't have to stop thrifting and buying and just continue to add to that section of the store. You wouldn't have to feel guilty then and you might make some money to support your habit! Just a thought I had.

Debi, I have had a really bad two years. So depressing! I haven't picked up a paint brush in about a year. All my paint is like, dried up. Watching this and seeing all the beautiful work you have done is giving me inspiration. Focus. I just need to focus. But I have to start from below ground up. One of the reasona I enjoy and love watching your chanel is because you actually create things out of what you find for the most part anyway, Its the creative part of us artist that keeps our creative minds going and its very difficult for you to over come that earge of collecting that your so use to its in your DNA now but dont worry you know what to do and your getting it done. 👏
Your Dad is so great, we could all do with someone as helpful in our lives… You said you’re not a hoarder, I can identify with that, from the outside looking in, I probably look like one, my problem is I see the potential in everything and I want to give it all a makeover, add to that I have a serious dose of money anxiety and struggle to throw things away unless I’ve had a good shot at trying to sell it first.

That is what I do too: buying lots of stuff for me which I do not need😁 But it is so pretty!! It just shows our artistic nature to create something new!
I SOOO relate to your “hoarding” dilemma. I think it’s common for “creatives.” My attention is often hijacked when I spot antique, vintage, & well-loved artwork, frames, furniture, pottery, & other decorative items, because I see so many potential ways to give them new lives by refinishing, repurposing, & upcycling. Our creative stashes may be daunting to others, but it’s difficult to part with items that have potential … there just aren’t enough hours in the day. 😢
Ooo! I had an idea when you mentioned that you need to do something with all the stuff in the future classroom workspace - perhaps students could use the items you are reluctant to part with as blanks/substrate on which to learn techniques you are teaching in classes. It may be easier to relinquish when you know they’ll be reloved & won’t be going into a landfill. Just a thought 💭

Debi I too am going through something with my neck been on medical leave with my job since feb (mine is causing double vision and dizziness! -so wish it was just my neck hurting -when I look down) my pastime is going to every flea market I can find on the weekend for inspiration I fill my cart with things that inspire me, Glass , mid century and boho treasures , birds!> by the time I get to cash registar I have put it all back. next time I go if it is still on the shelf I grab it. (my parents were hoarders!) now I have a bunch of their stuff too.... I am weeding through it slowly... God bless you and your family! Hope your neck gets to feeling better soon! My idea is for Debi to do a CZcams collab with one of the channels that focus on decluttering and/or organizing. The Crafty organizer is in Long Beach. Seems like she’d be a good fit as she’s crafty, very into DIY, and near enough. I also like the Clutter Bug. The more I think about it, the more I love the idea. Women helping women, promoting their businesses , CZcamsrs collaborating, as well as useful advice for those of us watching. It’s a pretty good bet there is a organizing /decluttering CZcamsr in San Diego.

Your ability to turn discarded items into art is amazing. Especially your freestyle use of transfers and molds and paint. Re: your bright colours. You are ahead of the trend. With the Barbie movie success, that pallette will fly off the shelf! I’m sure you know that If you want to tone them down you can always add a little of the opposite colour on the colour wheel. But above all, you do you. It’s what makes you unique. We all need more colour and creativity in our lives. It’s why many of us watch your channel. Long live pink 🌸

Nope! Got to let things go. :) I found that a one in, one out policy works. If you buy three new things, three other things must leave the house forever. It also helps to think that the things you let go of might be perfect for someone in need or just starting out with a new house or dorm. :)
Ok, I’d love your candle making supplies‼️ we lost most everything in hurricane 🌀 Ian last sept 28 here in Florida. We’ve been in a trailer that leaks, a shower I couldn’t turn around in , mirrors I can’t see about half my eyes (I’m 5’2”) and the sewer leaks. We moved back in last month. It’s good to be inside (before hurricane season hit in JUNE: 2023. My art studio is gone of supplies. But I’ll replace. No doubt. It’s SO good to be back inside th feel safer. Love your videos! I’m older but need work and this is great, inspiring and happy. You’ve gotten me through a lot. ❤
