මෙම ගීතය ගැයු මුල් ගායකයා, නෙවිල් ප්‍රනාන්දු, කලු දිය දහර චිත්ත්‍ර පටය.මේ දරුවා නොදන්නවා ඇති,නමුත් කැලුම් ඔබට අමතක වීම දුකක්,ඔහුගේ සහෝදරය තාම අප අතර ඉන්නවා.ඔහු එරොල් ප්‍රනාන්දු.තවත් කෙනෙක් ඔහු නිහාල් සිල්ව.ඔවුන්ගෙන් අහල ඇත්ත දැනගන්න.නීලාට නිවන් සුව පතන අතර මේ දියනියට මගේ සුබ පැතුම්.
ඉතාම සන්තෝෂයි ඔබ මේ ගීතයේ මූලය හෙළිදරව් කළාට. මේ ගීතය මුලින්ම ගායනා කලේ නෙවිල් ප්‍රනාන්දු 'කළු දිය දහර' කියන චිත්‍රපටියට, 1974 දී කරුනාරත්න අබේසේකරගේ පද රචනයට. ඉතාම කනගාටු දේ තමයි නීලා මේ ගීතය 1980 ගණන් වලදී මුල් අයිතිකරුවන්ගෙන් අවසර නැතිව ගායනා කළා පමණක් නොව ඔවුන්ට කෘත වේදී බවක් වත් කිසිදා දැක්වූයේ නෑ ! හේතුව 80 ගණන් වලදී ගීතවලට copyright නීතිය ලංකාවේ තිබුනේ නෑ, අනික නෙවිල්, කරූ ඒ වන විට මිය ගිහිල්ලා, නිමල් මෙන්ඩිස් ලන්ඩනයේ පදිංචියට ගිහිල්ලා. ඒ විතරක් නොවෙයි, අද ඉන්න නිවේදකයෝ පවා දන්නේ නෑ මේ ගීතය නෙවිල්, නිමල් , කරූ සුසංයෝගයක් කියලා! ඉතාම ලැජ්ජයි!!

Originally sung by Neville Fernando for Kalu Diya Dahara the song has a tragic history.
“The recordings for Master Sir took place at Wijaya Studio in Hendala, Wattala in 1974. Nimal Mendis was the music director for the film Kalu Diya Dahara and wrote Master Sir initially in English. It was translated to Sinhala by Karunaratne Abeysekera. The vocalist for the performance was Neville Fernando, who was suffering from leukaemia at the time. Although undergoing cancer treatment and in immense pain, he was able to perform vocals on the track. Leaving the recording on a sombre tone, he turned to Mendis and Abeysekera and remarked that he might not be alive to see the release of the film. He passed away from leukaemia on 23 April 1975 at the age of 38.[6]” ( Source-Wikipedia)
