I Was Blind and Now I See - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon

- Friends, on this Fourth Sunday of Lent, our Gospel is one of the most magnificent stories in the Gospel of John: the healing of the man born blind. John is a theological master, of course, but also a literary master, and this story is beautifully crafted as a sort of icon of the spiritual life. This is not only a story about something that Jesus did; at a deeper level, this is a story about all of us.

*'A man born blind from birth.' That's every one of us.*
- Bishop Robert Barron
Most people who can see but actually they are blind that can't event see the truth
They are blinded by the good words of people of good speeches of good stories
@@jeromeron2418 …is this meant to be a sarcastic rebuke? (‘ cos it reads like it.). If so, on what basis?
@@oliveralexandre3607
What I understood is Jerome meant about those that have physical sight but are blinded inwardly by worldly interests, reputation or selfish gains. Same as what Bishop speaks.
@@marypinakat8594 O, then I apologize- the “good words of (‘good’ people)” threw me!

Thank you for being here. Big God bless✨
Talk about "opening our eyes" to a pasage so familiar and yet . . . unable to see its deeper truth!! Tbank you 🙏
Father, forgive me of my sins. Walk with me through my life. Until my soul joins you in heaven. Pray Daily 🙏
Amen 🙏 ❤
At least the blind man _wanted_ to see. So many souls in our time don't even know they're blind or prefer blindness. Lord, have mercy on those who don't know how to ask for sight!
or they want OTHERS to see, but only as THEY see.
and the ones that don't know they're blind.
Why do some friends if Jesus is mentioned in conversation with them immediately change the subject?
Wow! An amazing theological reflection on the gospel of today; and Bishop Barron homalized well with the reality of us being spiritually blinded due to our excessive engagement with the materialistic world, taking us away from the very purpose of our existence.
Every human being should hear this homily, best of the best, thankyou!!!
It is truly powerful when Christ, in His Divinity and Humanity, places His touch upon us, and that it is no longer I who lives, but Christ in me. It's masterful how the Holy Spirit worked in Bishop Barron to make that connection to the man born blind when he gains sight, and then becomes a devoted follower of Christ, regardless of those in opposition.
The blind man can finally see, but those who can see, choose blindness.
Good Bishop, tremendous homily.
Every time, every time......thank you🙏
Thank you so much Bishop Barron ❤🙏
Thank you for this lovely sermon Bishop Barron, may GOD bless and protect you always. ➕ ❤
Lord wash my eyes each day so I can see and seek the truth daily.
Thank you Bishop
I need to be “Christified” many times during the day!
Bishop Barron - thank you! You are a master teacher and preacher!
John's gospel is a banquet of theological truth. Thanks, Bishop Barron.
I love you, Bishop Barron, God bless you for your works of evangelization 🙏
With everything going on right now, we'll have regrets for things we did not participate in...Investment should always be on any creative man's heart for success in life.
you're right investing/trading is surely a lucrative way to invest whether you want growth, leverage, stable income or something in between.
I have loss severally trying to trade on my own. Can someone tell me the best way to win instead of losing more?
trading with an expert is the best strategy and also profitable, Newbies who are not aware of how crypto truly works and wish to make profits from it, I would advise to invest with a professional like Fergus waylen, It helps secure and minimize the possibilities of losses.
I'm honestly surprised that this name is being mentioned here, I stumbled upon one of his clients testimony last two months in CNBC world news and decided to try him out...I'm Expecting my third cashout in 2days
he's really a professional. For this past months, I keep earning $11,800 weekly profit having invested $4,200 and working with him
Hermoso mensaje! Gracias excelencia Barron!
Thank you Bishop Barron ❤
Hello brothers and sisters
Most wonderful Sermon. ❤
“ you will be opposed”… absolute truth right there. Thanks , I just received my natural high for the week. Thanks my beautiful B.B. , you’re lifted up in prayer daily. Probably the same time you’re doing your holy hour I’m lifting you up in prayer. Count on it.
Thank you, Bishop. 🌼
Wow. So insightful. Thank you, Bishop Barron.
Another eyeopener of Bishop Barron
Thank you! This was of great comfort to me.
He takes away our burdens, gives instead his easy yoke; *the darkness of our lives he shatters with the brightness of his face* ... And we know his power, making us strong and true; the weakness of our nature, *his gentle touch heals.❤*

Thank you Bishop Barron 👏❤ God bless you always 🕊️✝️
Thank you, Bishop Barron!
`Deeply invested in blindness'. .....profound. The whole spiritual life is in this story.....profound again.
"There are a lot of people in our sinful world who are deeply invested in blindness" ---Bishop Robert Barron
Thank you, Bishop! I now understand why so many people hate the Catholic Church. There is a miracle right in front of us, a church that has survived for 2000 years, and many still can't recognize this gift of God.
Thank you again Bishop Barron. 🙏
Thank you ❤🙏
Father Barren, i love to hear your sermons. You are a good priest. Iv learned so much from you. Please pray for us all.
Something I missed growing up from one foster home and orphanage to the next was the second part of Bishop Barron's sermon which is: once you become Christ-like, be wide awake, careful. Because you will be opposed the more Christ-like you become. The warning. So many people are invested in blindnessthat it creates a default opposition to Christ-like believers. Here, today, Bishop Barron gives believers a warning with his sermon. You will be opposed. Do not be surprised by such opposition. It is inevitable. This warning so helpful in that it - and Bishop Barron has warned us in other sermons about this danger -- it helps us avoid resentments when we are attacked. Resentments nourish our fall from Grace? So expect opposition. Attacks. Remain steadfast in Christ to the point of being able to bless those who attack you -- an impossible task except through Grace. That is what I humbly have receivewd from today's sermon. As always, thank you, Bishop Barron. Blessings.
Thank you for this sermon Bishop Barron
Bishop Barron
You are not just a canal bringing us God's grace; you are a reservoir giving of the overflow while remaining full. God keeps you so to slake our thirst!
Bishop Barron. You gave a wonderful message and the presentation and production value was fantastic. The way you presented this message made me want to stop, listen, repent and seek God's grace. Peace be with you and to everyone that received this message and to all those that need this message.
Amen.
Thank You for all your spiritual enlightenment, I learned a lot, I will reread this Gospel again!
Thank you, Excellency. Off to recommence my journey with the Lord, after Confession. May we all give our lives to Him.
Just absolutely beautiful Bishop Barron, thank you!
I'm getting that opposition now in my own household by my Catholic mother in law. We got the church together, but she hears one thing when the homily will say something else, and she will pull stuff out of context. I just continually pray for my sister, until she is restored. She may call me names, or throw me out.. but it is not her.. but a spiritual warfare we cannot see. I pray if anyone else is having this problem, stay strong, don't argue, that will not change what they REFUSE to see or maybe are even SCARED to see, because then they have to admit they need repentance.
Pray also for your own strength and wisdom to know what and when to say something, and when to just walk away.
God always gives us that inner , still small voice if only we want to listen. We must make sure we keep our own life repentant daily. Don't let your sins add up like dominoes, my goodness.. I did that for YEARS, as a closet Christian. And God chose to take my useless sinful body.
10/13/19 I was dead for 6 minutes . Prior to that from a pulmonary embolism, I counted breathe, as ai was breathing my last breaths, I asked God for another chance, so I could see my kids grow up(my youngest a teen), I was scared and quite honestly, greedy if I have to think on it now, but I "bartered" with God, if You give me a second chance just to finish seeing my kids grow up and make sure my hubby is taken care of, I'll scream Your Name on the proverbial mountain tops.. and He holds me to that. If I start to away... Stall my prayer life . Spend too much time playing apps on my phone( I'm still out of work.. boredom can set in quickly) , I will get sick rather quickly, and as I repent, not long after.. less than 2 hours usually, I am restored. He keeps me inline and holds me to my oath. My kids are grown, now, with jobs, on their own, and my hubby and I are inline on what to do when God is ready to take me again. Ya see, even the doctors don't know what to do with me, they called me a miracle, so they have to keep changing my meds, rediagnosing me, because a few docs have said they don't know how I am alive and "how I do it". All I can do is share Him with everyone I can. He is amazing!!!
Amazing testimony. Thank you for sharing. Also another inspiring homily Bishop Baron. God Bless🙏🙏 15:12
Lord, raise Your faithful from the dead so that we remain united in love across every border of time and space. Praise be to You in eternity. Have mercy on us and lead us into Your mystery, to receive and to give every day. Amen.
This homily is a keeper! Thank you Bishop Barron. We are all blind but through faith and trust we can see. "I am"
Thank you Bishop. This is so helpful to pray with
Thank you Bishop Baron! You capture the deep meaning of these Biblical stories like no other! This story reminded me so much Of Rembrandt and his style of Chiaroscuro. The idea of light and dark and he painted 2 of St. Paul writing letters. And this is exactly what he wanted to portray with Paul as the light is shown on his letters and hands. That idea of seeing the spiritual message of Christ with the blindness of the dark all around!
You are stellar Bishop Baron!
Grazie di cuore, from the heart!
Father Barron is awesome! 😊
God bless Bishop Barron and Word on Fire ministries 🙏🏻❤️✝️
Always a “spot on” homily to heal and enlighten my soul✝️ God Bless you🙏🏼🕊️
I love your videos. I actually look for them now on Saturday so on Sunday I can understand what the Priest is saying. I get a lot more out of Mass now thanks to you.
Blessed be God of all creation.... Blessed be his faithful servants who are heavily invested in healing our blindness. Thank you Bishop Barron. No matter what situation I face, your sermons illuminate my mind body and souls in ways I never thought possible. Amen

So Wonderful, Bishop Barron. Amazing Grace. Spiritual blindness. Light. Thank you Father.
May God bless you, Bishop Barron, and keep you well. I love the Gospel of St. John, as well.
Your explanation of this Chapter is so beautiful. Thank you.

Another masterful, beautiful sermon. Thank you again, Bishop Barron.

Rub your saving power into our sin-sick eyes, Lord.
That was amazing and “illuminating”, dear Bishop. You have given me cause to heal my blindness in His Perfect Light. God bless you and this faithful community. 🙏🙏🙏
That was a wonderful sermon and Bishop Barron told it beautifully.
People are invested in blindness…is a great life lesson. And ‘clever as a serpent’…..that’s what I am always aiming for… but always fall short.♥️✝️
Beautiful. Thank you!
Hi Bishop Barren, I’m a parishioner of a Catholic Church in LA. Our Priest mentioned this homily during mass. Thank you for being such a treasure in the Body of Christ and for helping me along my spiritual journey.
All glories back to the most higher!
Thank you Bishop Barron for your insightful message.
This was very good as usual Bishop Barron. Just yesterday I could not remember all the words to the classic song "Amazing Grace" I have had a tough time letting go of a lot of stuff I own, without at least trying to sell it and receiving some money back for it. My local Salvation Army & Good Will are about to receive a home full of nice stuff. Do to the fact I was blind but now I see🧐🤓👀God is always at work👣. I have a lot of clearing out to do Thank You for the Sermon❣😃✌
Thanks again, Bishop Barron, helpful and insightful, week after week after week.
Watching him is awesome. I am drawn to him because he teaches me. What a holy and intelligent man.
You are such a gifted orator. We are blessed beyond measure to have you in our lives. Thank you Bishop Barron.
God Bless you Bishop Barron and Thank you 🙏🏽
Thank you Bishop Barron for giving us a deeper understanding of this word. You indeed have wisdom from above and the spirit of discernment. God bless you 🙏 😇
Wonderful and timely reminder and God bless to all who have heal from all blindness.🙏🙏
Beautiful homily. Giving insight, powerful meaning to an often heard Bible story! Thank you so much! I was “blind” “deaf” to so much of the hidden meanings in this story and walked seeing and hearing Christ message in a new way.
There are a lot of people invested in blindness. This statement from sermon is so true.
That is why the Flame of Love devotion blinds Satan and removes our blindness. It is the devotion of Jesus who is the Flame of Love so powerful.
Thank you, Bishop Barron. May you always be blessed, guided and protected by our Dear Lord Jesus Christ! 🙏🏼
So much good preaching. It’s hard to believe.
Thank you Bishop Barron! Another awakening message so well said!
Each weekend I can’t wait to hear your insightful message.
Thank you for being another Christ to us! ❤️🙏
Every act performed by Jesus is multilayered. You have been gifted, bishop Barron, with the grace of discerning each layer, of isolating each layer through words of knowledge and imagery and then reconstituting the matrix so as to reveal God’s work in and for us.
Thank you, Levis Shalom
Word.
And bless you too ❤🙏
Thank you so much, Bishop Barron for today's sermon, may God bless you and your family always. 😇 🙏🏼🙂
People invested in blindness ....that's such a great message.
Many years ago, Sr. Kathleen Brennan of Sudbury Ontario Canada went to Mundelein in the summers. She bought me your book, “And Now I See”. Thank you for this homily and thank you for writing that book.
"And Now I See" is one of my favorite books. I've read it twice, so far, and get more each time!
His book, "the strangest way", is a great "follow up", and a bit more of a "practicum". (Specific things to do to work on the aspects of transformation.)
Both wonderful books.
By the way, the 17 page "Prelude" of "And Now I See" is NOT optional if you want to get the most from the book. It takes some effort, but IT IS WORTH IT.
(Cursillistas, this should really resonate with you! "Metanoia")
Neat I was raised in Sudbury 😊
I am from Parry Sound.

Thank you
Thank you for the real true awesome sermon!!!!
Thank you so much for a deeper understanding of this great story. It’s amazing that everything make sense in a whole way! God bless you!
Having walked 1,200 miles in pilgrimage (Camino de Santiago in Spain) I now understand how I felt so different on this path. Santiago kept the roaring lion of Satan at bay while I shuffled along. I could feel his power each day.
The perfect spiritual messge of encouragement that Isure needed to hear today. I;ve lived long enough to realize there will be opposition and some people are only too eager to attack aother. . It is insidious and sneaky at times. I just had an encounter with that from a woman in our church, no kidding. And I believe she considers herself spiritual. Her words rattled me, yet your sermon assured me, "you bet there will be opposition" When we are just goinglong, its twisted cruelty comes in disguise at first. Bless you Bishop Baron for sharing this wisdom and encouragement from this gospel reading ...
I heard this in Mass today and was, again, astonished. Thanks for this wonderful homily!
‘There are a lot of people in this sinful world who are deeply invested in blindness’ - Bishop Barron
Very well put. Thank you for this video!
It's really sad that this world will leave us jaded sometimes, due to human mind and it's nature to becoming callous when fed with bad experiences. It's clear to me that sometimes worldly interactions will affect the mindset and decision going forward, which tends to be a problem. There are so many wonderful people I know who have been hurt and then will be thinking different based on their experiences. It's good to try to take a birds eye view on life and really appreciate the fact that everyone is just doing their best and trying to make sense of everything. Sometimes when someone is acting a certain way it's mostly because of how jaded they are, and their experiences. It's hard to understand at first but if you experience the mindset change, it really is an eye opener.
This message is an excellent reminder of how jaded the human mind can get. It's so good to hear this being talked about, I have so many friends who are followers of Christ but allow the world to jade their mind and affect their sight and how they view things. It's something that a few of my friends and I try to discuss, the fact that we must constantly be aware of these things and make sure our minds stay on the right track. Sometimes things in this world can really leave you twisted and morally skewed. This is such a healthy reminder to maintain a birds eye view and continue to view life as it is, and not just be molded by your emotions and feelings towards situations and people.
I'm so glad this topic has been touched on, I know so many people who feed into sin to make money in this world.
It's so tough to see, especially when it's someone close to you. This spiritual journey is a tough one to bring to light, but I'm hoping more and more people will come to understand and see the world through clairvoyant sight.
