I was at the Detroit taping of The Virgin Tour for the home video at the end of May, 1985. My first concert, I was only 7 years old. I never knew why they cut out the 3 songs from the home video. They were performed the night I went.

I love that in the early raw vocal years she did a lot of improvs and adlibs in her live shows like this one. Nowadays she's quite reserved. I think her Evita vocal coach effed up her confidence and she just sings it straight.

I bought this tour! I have it in tape VHS format lol 😂😂😂. I know, it hasn’t been released in digital, don’t know why! ... and this song Angel wasn’t part of the recorded footage :( I LOVE THIS song.. I have the vinyl record in 45 RPM format, is the side B of Into The Groove, so glad I kept my vinyls intact!
I don't think the missing 3 songs on the VHS are because of any 'racy' content. They wanted to make the VHS 1 hour and decided to cut this as it was not great and the costume change made it 6+ minutes and the Burning Up was nearly 6 more minutes too. Not sure why Borderline was a cut victim too, maybe it was a transition song and wasn't that great? Warner Home Video knows why...
Do I hear a Yamaha DX7? the interlude around 3:40 is one of the best parts of this performance. Madonna, clearly exhausted, nailing her vocals is another.
This song was cut from the original concert .I think was some issues with the song .you won’t find on CZcams . Only video collectors original concert has it
I don't think it's her though. It's her former label, Warner Bros. They're brilliant at promoting and marketing albums, but they've always sucked at concert promoting. That's part of the reason she switched Live Nation, they're a concert promoting giant. Madonna knew that any live performances she under their label, would definitely get maximum promotion (especially for a star of her calibre). Also, now that I think of it, A lot of big artist have had issues with Warner's concert promoting. Let's hope they wake up and step up their game
why didnt they feature all the songs from the concert on the video of the Virgin Tour ? Ive not seen the dvd so I dont know if they have added anything. itd be nice to have the whole gig.
steev75 there currently isn't a dvd of this show... as for the songs being cut there are so far two stories, one is that the director felt Madonna's performance wasn't on form for those two. The other, (which is the one I believe as I've heard it a few times) Is that it had something to do with the length of the VHS video, in that it had to be under an hour, so they cut the songs for time...
there isn't an official DVD of the show... you can buy unauthorized DVDs which have been made by fans and available on some fansites, but you can't buy it officially...
Madonna didn't have all the creative control she has now when this was recorded, you have to play by the rules before you can call the shots, that's why the racy ones like burning up....angel and borderline were most likely. I don't think that they are racy, but remember the time, it was the Reagan era.
