  • Song about the founder of the IRSM, Seamus Costello. Seamus founded the IRSP and ІΝⅬΑ (or IRSM collectively) after members of Official Sinn Féin (now Workers' Party) left over the parties' stance of the national question (Irish unity or class struggle first), armed struggle (OIRA had ceased an offensive armed struggle) and it's turn towards bourgeois parliamentary politics. Seamus was assassinated by the Official IRA on the 5th October 1977, in North Strand, Dublin.
Seamus Costello founded the Republican Socialist ideology, where Socialis and Republicanism are intertwined and an essential blend for total unity and Independence. Costello based this theory and ideology off the works of James Connolly, a socialist and republican who was executed for his part in the 1916 easter rising.
Nora Connolly, daughter Connolly, spoke at Seamus' funeral:
"Of all the politicians and political people with whom I have had conversations and who called themselves followers of Connolly, he was the only one who truly understood what James Connolly meant when he spoke of his vision of the freedom of the Irish people."
The final part of the video is a speech by Seamus:
"I favour guerrilla tactics in parliament, the same as I do in many other respects. And I see no reason why with a few TDs or a few MPs of the right calibre, pursuing the right policies, why they cannot destroy the confidence of the people in these institutions and bring them tumbling down in ruin.”"
