Dive bar is the place where Joe and Taylor used to meet in the first stage of thier relationship. They actually dated for 7 years. They ended their relationship on last month though.
Anyway, the note she received in the first scene is a letter from Joe informing her to meet him at the dive bar. Time before her reputation era was not so good for her and us swifties. Media always criticising her and celebrities turning their back on her etc. While everyone never recognised the real her or more like choosed to ignore the real Taylor, and then there was Joe who always saw Taylor as just Taylor. He embraced her with all the hate and everything that came with her. He SAW her. That's what this whole video is about. And in the last scene they meet at the dive bar. And she really doesn't care whether others see her or not anymore cause she only sees him. 90% of the reputation album is about Taylor crushing on Joe. Lol.
I can't imagine what the people feeling, see the greatest singer in the world,in front of them 😅😅😅😅
so as a metalhead myself, i'd say you should give The Story of Us, Better Than Revenge, and Haunted a try!
When you said "dancing in the rain" out loud, even though I've seen the music video a handful of times, it finally clicked for me that between the meaning I now know this song has (I know it inside and out now, vidded a mash-up cover of this song with "Call It What You Want" for a TV show pair I love, and I know how much this album was all about the start of her romance with Joe Alwyn now in a way I didn't when I first heard it).
It's cool because I'm thinking back 4 albums prior (before 1989, before Red, before Speak Now) to Fearless, that title song she discusses that first falling in love with a person and wanting to dance in the rain, or specifically the song starts off with the rain as the whole premise:
"There's somethin' bout the way / The street looks when it's just rained / There's a glow off the pavement / You walk me to the car / And you know I wanna ask you to dance right there / In the middle of the parking lot"
but that's just the verse, the chorus is about how "With you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress, fearless" which she sings repeatedly... and here she's not dancing "with him" but she is fearless and joyful, dancing in the rain again because she's fallen so hard for this guy she's singing about in "Delicate", all these years later. I finally made that connection! Also I vidded the "Fearless" song for a different favorite TV show pairing of mine as well. Much more recently than when I first heard "Delicate" as well.
