9:30 Vlog Intro
11:23 Designing Packing Tape & Sleeve Embroidery
16:26 Working (With Voiceover)
i LOVEEEE when people don’t treat money as taboo and that you’re talking about it. i’m proud of how far your business has come. I will continue buying from almost every launch lmao
Thank you so much!
Right?! It’s about transparency and I’m sure people who want to start a business can get some pointers.
I am so proud of you, Baylee. I have been watching you for years, and I have loved seeing you succeed and grow.
Likewise, i feel so proud of every milestone and achievements.
Beautiful girl with enormous ideas .
Iv been watching baylee for around 9 years and I still watch every single video. My all time favourite CZcamsr and seeing her grow has been amazing ❤
Thank you 😊
She's the only youtuber ive been watching every video as soon as it comes out for years. prob since right around the end of zkittyz. I always look forward to new vids. The best part of my week ❤
I like rhis shop talk portion. The nerd in me is fascinated by this stuff
something i've always appreciated about you is that you're transparent about money. i have no interest in starting my own business or anything, but regardless it's really interested to see what goes into it and what level of expenses and profits you're working with
Loved the cost breakdown segment. I really enjoy hearing about costs and profits and the more business side of things it’s so interesting.
Also your ending voiceover cracked me up it was very relatable
If that were 18 Duckie stickers.... that was my order! :D I actually work at a kindergarten and bought the stickers for my kiddies at work to go with their little easter present next year :)
That's so cute!
Aww, I love that! Thank you so much for ordering! 😊
The ending 😂 Also, yes, the begining was super interesting. For some people it may seem boring but it is part of owning a business, and it’s nice to have a glimpse of the underside of owning a business, even the financial part.
That's amazing for the first year, Baylee! Most of the time it takes years to recoup those costs. Congratulations!
I honeslty would love a whole video of the breakdown of owning an online store, I personally enjoy hearing the business numbers
Hi Baylee! I'm not public on most of my social media accounts so I figured I'd put this here- I volunteer at a local thrift store as a cashier, and today I met a woman wearing an embroidered shirt. She told me that she likes embroidered shirts, but that the store she got it from doesn't do embroidered designs anymore, so I told her to look you up (spelled your name and everything!). She's an older woman so I'm not sure how technologically savvy she is, but I've been watching you for years & thought it was worth a shot. Haven't bought shirts/sweaters myself as my budget is tight and I own too many t-shirts and sweaters already, but have bought pins + prints before, and was overjoyed (I have... Noise and Petal Dance? And the animal paw/galaxy pin?). Anyway, I hope she buys your product ^_^
That was so interesting! I’ve been a silent follower for many many years and it has been awesome to watch you grow and flourish as a business.
I got to meet you when you came to Texas for San Japan a while ago and I was so nervous I was shaking in my boots😂 I still have the prints I bought from you that day (I can’t remember what one of them is called exactly but I remember “Nightmare” lol) and “Bee and Puppycat”. You’ve been a huge inspiration for me all these years and i just felt like I needed to get that out there. I can’t wait to see what you do next 🫶🏻
San Japan was so fun! Thanks for stopping my by table. I'm glad you're still around after all this time!
Amazing that your embroidery will soon be making profit. I have certainly be learning a lot from your vlogs. 😍Plus I was happy to catch a sight of my order being packed! Thank you for your work!🤩
Baylee what you have been able to achieve is incredible. There are not many people who can pay off 85% of an investment for their business in a year. You should be so pleased. You've worked so hard.
people just relying on the embroidery sales might be just breaking even but, as you have other income streams, I'm sure you're in pure profit territory by now 👍
The business overall is normally profitable, but last year was a loss because of the embroidery investment.
I cannot be early enough to a new baylee jae video
You forgot your intangibles: electricity, water and sewer, insurance, building rent or mortage, taxes, equipment depreciation, shipping you pay to receive supplies, etc. These are some of the things that a lot of businesses forget to add as expenses. I had taken an accounting class, that is how I know. When I was taking my chocolatier course, one of the assignments was to figure out your costs so you know what to charge for your product. Most of the other students forgot about intangibles.
I did mention that there are a lot of such expenses not taken into account. It's only a look at physical embroidery expenses specifically. This is not an overall expense video for my entire business.
Love the transparency in the beginning, and so happy of how much your business has grown! Definitely will continue supporting you on every video release and shop update! I'm always getting 1 Mail Cat and Why Bebe Why Washi whenever I order; I just love the cat merch so much!! Also love the cat and video game bags; I got the wholesale of each and gave some as gifts to my friends😆
The embroidery break down was AWESOME!!! Your business, art, and content are so inspiring!
Let me tell you that feeling at 21:57 min seeing my order being packed, I definitely squealed out loud 😅😅 Love my sweater and hoodie, so comfy and perfect for this Aussie winter!!! Love seeing all your amazing work and listening to how you manage and break everything down for the business. Thank you for sharing ❤
I love how open ur being about ur costs ect but ur doing it in a informative way with no pressure for sales of that make sense
Honestly that is amazing that you paid off the machines! I’m waiting for your next release because I want one of those zip ups!!! Cannot wait!
I'm commenting because this is still on my mind DAYS later: Did anyone else get major Sims 2 and/or 3 vibes from the music starting at 12:05 because once it started my brain went, "Oh, this takes me back..." lol
The end of this had me 🤣 and yes. i love the small business talk. i think it really helps with perspective whether you're a small business owner or customer.
Love the vlogs!
You talking about how to work out expenses is so helpful to me when I’m trying to figure out expenses for my small business 😖😖- watching your vlogs while I work on my business is a massive motivation for me since I’ve been watching you since I was a kid and I’m now an adult with my on business all thanks to you Baylee! 🫶❤
This is so interesting!! Thank you for sharing. We love a transparent queen
That was really interesting! Thank you so much for sharing!
Loved the segment!
heheeh, the not knowing how to end the video made me chuckle!
Yes very interesting to see your breakdown report. Seems like you are doing well. Stay happy you two.
Happy Tuesday!!!!!!!!!

Love the business updates! The analytics are so interesting.
Thanks for sharing, always fun! ❤
This is so cool. I LOVE seeing breakdowns. Thank you so much for sharing. This is super helpful as a small artist.
Ooooh so interesting to see the business side!
I love the detailed shop talk! I appreciate the transparency and find it all really interesting. ❤
Love your videos. You are my inspiration. Thank you for beeing you ❤❤❤
I enjoy watching the breakdown of costs so much. Love how transparent you are!
I've been watching you for around 8yrs and have enjoyed watching you learn and grow, and expanding on your art has been such a joy to watch, be proud of your achievements no matter how big or small they are you truly are an inspiration, I got inspired by you to create my own online store yrs ago.. I closed my shop but reopening later this year...
Woohoo vlog time
This was so insightful! I'm new to your channel but I am really enjoying your honest chat about how you run your business.
Yay for the new Tuesday videos!!! I was so confused for a second when I saw you uploaded today before I remembered you switched the second upload days to Tuesday 🥳 more Baylee for the win!
I love the way you styled your hair. I love the new autumn flowers tape. I can't wait for the autumnal/Halloween prints🧡🥰
So happy I was able to buy a Strawberry crewneck in time!❤ Loved this video and all the talk in the beginning was super informative!
Lol the end of this vlog had me dying😂.
just as others have said, i love how transparent you are about profits. i dunno why people get so defensive and serious,,,, by ptting this knowledge out there we are all helping each other c: but to each their own. Thanks baylee! we can always rely on you-
So early, this must b an omen
I was getting so distracted watching for Kiki in your timelapse packing/inventory section 😂
Your office is amazing
Thank you for sharing! I'm working on some hand embroidery things and this really helps with my process. I don't want to be on the scale that you are but I want to keep busy in my semi-retirement. I am considering buying a home embroidery machine, my hand cramps up if I do too much hand embroidery.
Love you and your business!!! Your content is the bomb🎉. Is there any chance there may be a spooky kitties with spider webs and a cauldron on a black sketch book??
Thanks! No, I don't have that design in the works.
damn its already been a year?!
Haha! That ending! But overall that's really, really impressive!!! I wish I could do something like that! I've always wanted to but no funds to do so, perhaps one day :).
I can't baylieve it's nearly been a year but dayum that's true.
The breakdown cost was an interesting and enjoyable. I wish more small business did a breakdown cost. It would help create a more realistic expectation for running a business by showing how much money really goes into it. Thank you for showing the breakdown cost it was very informative. I cant wait to be able to buy one of the sweaters or t-shirts from you!
Glad you enjoyed!
💜💙
This was a very informative video. I had been wondering how profitably the embroidery part of your business was doing. It's amazing how quickly you are making back your investment. I was also curious about your thread costs. I'm sure I missed it. I saw thread swatches and thread racks. I just wondered how much the thread cost you including all the customs and shipping cost hassles you endured. Thanks for another great small business video! 😊
Thread cost is factored into the profit margin of the sweatshirts.
Can yo7 pls do more diamond painting blogs I miss them
The Kiki and Noes are so cute imagine little baby grows or black cardigans
do you think you would ever implement a barcode system for your apparel? more so for inventory control (barcodes on merchandise and barcodes on bins)
If you have any left over tape you could always sell it to us crazy fans that love the design.
Not sure if you looked into vista print for tape or even sticker mule 🤷🏼♂ I use sticker mule
I didn't realize Vistaprint even sold it. I just took a look, and it's $10 cheaper per roll if I buy more than one. I'll get a single roll to test it & compare the quality.
I love my strawberry tote. Suggestion though is the DTF transfers and machinery would be great for T-shirts. I haven't bought any of the shirts because im concerned with the embroidery going funny after washing.
Embroidery should be totally fine to wash, especially machine embroidery. If you are worried about it bleeding and or snagging, you would just want to turn the piece inside out/put it in a delicates bag, wash it using cool water with a mild detergent on a delicate cycle, and make sure none of the other clothing you're washing that could possibly snag it. Theres also always the option to hand wash too! I haven't personally bought any of Baylee's shirts, but all the embroidered pieces I own have been perfectly fine just going straight into the wash without taking any precautions.
@@_Emily_Moore_ I remember when I was younger I had a T-shirt with embroidery on it and what happened was where the embroidery was puckered and after 2 washes it just looked really bad so embroidered clothes that need regular washing has become something I'm not willing to risk. White accessories that won't be washed regularly I'm ok with
@@Sarah-with-an-H it was probably the fabric shrinking, air drying should prevent that. I totally understand why you’d still want to avoid them, sometimes it’s just not worth it haha
@@_Emily_Moore_ yeah but I know myself I'm going to throw everything in the washer and dryer without regard for special steps for certain garments and that's why embroidered clothing that needs regular washing isn't for me, but a graphic tee with a transfer is.
I do plan to explore more tshirt options! Embroidery can pucker t-shirts a bit, since the material is thin.
I don't know why I find finances fascinating but it was really interesting to hear how your businesses is doing after this investment 🥰
Hi Baylee! Will you ever restock the art you did from the Australian mystery box form your subscriber? I’m so exited for this store update and this piece has halloweeny vibes so I was wondering if you were planning on including it 🥺🥺🥺
What was the artwork?
@@BayleeJae I believe it’s called universe? It’s the one with the red-skin girl and eyes on her flowy hair. I really loved that piece 😍😍😍
i need a luna on a md black sweatshirt before you stop the design (yes i know back is only for the larger sizes)😭😭😭😭😭😭
With the two machines, have you seen an increase in your utilities?
I haven't, but I didn't look at the breakdown for electricity specifically. My utilities and city bills are lumped into one bill, and I didn't see an increase in the overall cost.
When you first started your business did you use loans from the bank?
No, I used my own money to buy 100 enamel pins (one design). Then I used the profit from that to buy more.
Did you forget electricity? I can imagine a machine like that costs a bunch of electricity too.
There are plenty of extra hidden costs like that, but I didn't factor them in. I didn't see a jump in our electricity bill when we got the machines, but I didn't compare bills to see exact usage. It's lumped with our other utilities, I'd have to check the cost breakdown on the bills.
Anyone else remember when Baylee only had 100 or so candy cane bun pins ? Wild how much things have changed
The simple days 😆
Hey Baylee! Just wanted to say I love you channel and videos, they are a little cozy space for me to relax and I really love them. I have a question though which i seriously need help with. I am a artist myself, and as I have been growing my skill I feel like I need to upgrade from my super cheap acrylic paints. I don't really have a lot of money to spend on paint but I want to know if you or anyone has any suggestions that are not super expensive but still a relatively good quality. Thank you! This would help me a TON. Have a lovely week!
Also if any of you guys have any suggestions that would be SO amazing!
I like Liquitex for acrylics, they're not that pricey and they're pretty good quality!
I've only every used Windsor & Newton's professional grade acrylics paints, they are fine but there is definitely better out there. I do really recommend just starting out with a few basic colors before committing to a specific brand and buying more convenience colors. I recommend trying some acrylic mediums out at some point! The can be really helpful and fun to play around with. I think both golden and liquitex have a nice little starter sets that give you a nice variety and information about how to use them.
I agree with the comment suggesting Liquitex. I haven't tried many brands, but those I like. I also like Golden, but they are pricier.
ooh, what kind of headphones does Christian have?
These: amzn.to/3XYdgdg
They're decent quality, especially for the price. Right now they're $40 CAD, with a $10 coupon to bring it down to $30. Insane price.
Is Christian working full time for you or does he still have another job?
He works for me full time.
The machine arent cost, but the yearly depreciations are. So if the machines last 5 years of use 47k divided by 5 is 9.5k of yearly cost. Maybe there are different rules and amounts in Canada when it comes to investments vs cost. consult your accountant or bookkeeper.
Yeah, that is a more technical way of looking at it.
And think most likely after this Halloween shop update, your "upfront costs" will be all covered
But also the Halloween stuff is costing me a ton. It needs to pay for itself too. 😆
Hey Baylee, been a silent viewer for a long time, and even bought some prints from your shop. I have a small favor slash question to ask. My mom has a long-time best friend who is a seamstress and in fact, she made me my dress for my special needs prom. Last year though, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she beat it, despite a few setbacks. I was watching the first live stream designing Squeaky Seamstress, and I knew I would be getting one print for her. Even now, I plan on getting one for her, and one for me. The favor is this. When you get around to coloring the art, can you add in some pink for breast cancer awareness, or maybe some breast cancer awareness ribbon fabric or something? I know it's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask.
Give the babies lots of cuddles for me :)
I’ve been watching since you first started the vlogs, and it’s so awesome to see how far you’ve come. I can’t wait to see where you keep going. 🩷
