Love Mr. Ng’s dry sense of humor and of course his expertise.
4:30 🤣🤣
Welcome back. Never clicked on a video so fast.
Welcome back William!
instaBlaster...
The yellow cedar joke, You just earned my subscription. Hahah!
"I use hand tools because it makes a lot of people think you know what you're doing." I love it! Sir, you do know what you're doing imo.
I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but this video did a much better job explaining setup than others I have watched.
Love Mr. Ng’s dry sense of humor and of course his expertise. As someone who went the Ebay/refurbish route before buying a Lie Nielsen jack plane, I wish I had considered buying the Lie Nielsen or Veritas Jack with the extra blades first. I would recommend that path for anyone starting out.
I wouldn't, its a waste of money for a beginner. Lie Neilsen and Veritas make high quality tools and are nice to have if you have very deep pockets, but you do not need tools of this price to do first class work.
Your comment about the side screws to enable the lateral adjuster to function was a Eureka moment for me. I baulked at spending so much on any low angle Jack plane, so I made a wooden one with the Veritas Norris style adjuster. The side screws will improve its deficiency with the lateral adjuster.
Shavings turning was also enlightening.
Your jokes are terrible.😀😀 They made me chuckle.
Nice to see you back William, thanks for the video and the humour.
Love your sense of humor Willam.
Best chipbreaker explanation I've seen yet.
I took a class from William Ng, it was expensive and worth every penny! I've had several classes at Palomar College but the best instruction was from Mr. Ng, he's simply amazing! ❤😂 As far as planes go, if you want three, a low-angle block, a #4 1/2 and #6 from Lie-Nielsen (expensive) or Woodriver from Woodcraft (less expensive), don't waste time on Rockler. There ARE better planes but these have great blades and are pretty flat , easy to use!
Waking up to find a new William Ng video available is the best.
Getting an alert that there was a new video from you made my quarantine a little more bearable. Thanks for the video, William! You are consistently the best instructor on CZcams.
Saw a new William Ng video. Had to stop work and watch immediately. Wasn't disappointed.
This is actually the first instruction on how to adjust a plane that I have properly understood.
Welcome back William. It's widely known that you are an amazing woodworker. But you toss your silliness and sense of humor i will be sitting up for one or more of your online classes. Can't wait to learn something.
The legend had returned.
I will have to admit, I not only missed your great instruction in your videos but also the humor. Glad to see you back.
The master is back.
I really like your subtle humour. Good hand plane tips too. Thanks.
It is great to see you back on CZcams. Love your work.
Wow William, your closeups of your demonstration are so timely! I just hit that like button and subscribed to your channel!
Oh and another CZcams notification, let me dismiss this real qui-- Wait, what?! Well I'm done with whatever else I was doing!! Welcome back!!
OMG, I freaking love you so much! The way you blend in your sense of humor with your knowledge is incredible. Jonathan Katz Moses has nothing on you! (But he is a close second). Another great video. thx.
Young William was amazing. We need to see him more often!
Air Plane. Ouch. Nice to see you are on top form for your return!
William: you are a wood surgeon who has mastered the task of scalpel selection for every type of surgery. Thank you for the most thorough treatment of hand planes. Excellent video.
William who? Oh that guy who used to be on youtube. I remember him. Welcome back friend. Missed your videos and dry humor.
Thanks William. Always appreciate your videos. Please post a video on how to tune a Japanese plane.
Love your sense of humour and of course your knowledge.
Good to see you back.
Man! William just dropped another bomb of education! Please make more videos sir.
Love your sense of humor sir! Please make more videos.
Great video, your humor reminds me of my late uncle Sam :)
Just adjusted my number 4 plane and it cuts like butter with super thin shavings. Thank you for this tutorial.
Understated worker but very skilled.5:08 little William ha ha ha .Great teacher .probably the very best explanation of how planes work that I have seen.He deserves so many more subs and likes.
the best explanation of all about the use of hand plane ... but the two brands you recommended cost almost 1/3 of my salary ... even Stanley here in Brazil is very expensive.
Thanks for the return William. I loved seeing that sense of humor once again.
Welcome back! We missed you. Many years ago,, Patrick Leach wrote The Stanley Blood and Gore, and published it to rec.woodworking (www.supertool.com/StanleyBG/stan0a.html). There is a wealth of knowledge there on the entire Stanley line, and it is highly recommended reading.
I know it takes a lot of time and hard work to produce quality material for CZcams, so greatly appreciate the time you donated to provide us with this. Thank you, William.
Thanks for the link. I'm always interested in learning more.
Welcome back William love your humor
Your channel just popped up in my world, subscribed after 60 seconds ... then I saw the comment from the JK-M. I really appreciate all you wood experts ... with a few dozen subscriptions ... I have centuries of expertise and wisdom at my leisure. $0.02 Cheers.
GREAT to see a new video William! You had me crying a few times. 😂 You're a national treasure.
Seeing this thumbnail in my in box was a hell yeah moment! Been looking forward to a knowledgeable drop from the master. Good to see you back!
Always great to see another video from William. Some woodworkers on CZcams seem to get their knowledge from other videos. William is a great teacher, and you gotta love that sense of humor.

Great video! Click on it for the subject, stayed for the jokes :)
I was very happily surprised / excited when I saw you had put up a video again. Welcome back
Little William Ng was a cute little tyke!
All kidding aside, This was the most informative video I've seen on hand planes, it helps me put in order of preference which planes I buy.
Good info. I sold my Stanley's, all 15 of them and bought LN. The thicker blades and truer body's made all the difference. I was spending more time restoring the Stanley's and always struggling to get them perfect. They were nice and I liked them but I'm not looking back. The LN I could put to good use with only a small honing.
Great information William, loved the little William!
I didn't forget to hit the like button or to subscribe. Good length to digest, a little on the longer side. Good flow of speech. Recorded well and with care. I enjoyed hearing and seeing what I've seen and heard a dozen times before from skilled people like you. Thumbs up!
Woohoo! So glad you made another video, love it! Thank you!
