    From the Himalayan Imports Website:
    "The Sirupati, traditional khukuri of the Rai and Limbu people of Eastern Nepal, is quick and agile which makes it a favorite of martial artists. Excellently balanced. Light but still strong enough to do a heavy day's work. Scrollwork and brass inlay along back of blade add to the beauty of this already magnificent blade. This 25 inch version is going to come in at about 1/2 inch thick and about 2.5 pounds. Wood handle." Price $195.
    The Sirupati comes covered in shipping grease for rust protection, it is High Carbon Steel. It features a very sharp hand-finished edge. It comes with a traditional leather sheath and two smaller blades, one is a utility blade, the other is a honing tool.

    Gorgeous sword, I ordered mine today I can't wait to get it! :D My fascination with the Khukuri have grown over the past year or so, when it comes to foreign blades the samurai sword ranks number 1 for me but the Khukuri is creeping up there

    @Lokpyrite - That is basically a special religious ritual symbol for the Nepalese. It also helps prevents blood from dripping straight down onto the grip.

    Nice blade man, a true incarnation of the blade that struck fear into the hearts of enemies on the battlefield, quick and silent the night, decapitation in hardly the blink of an eye..Beautiful piece.

    Long Beautiful Sirupate Khukuri known as attacking knife. Light weight and easy to handle... I would always recommend long Sirupate Khukuri... Doesn't get better then that.

    That depends. This functions as a big chopper, kind of like a giant tomahawk or axe, so if you'd prefer a large axe to the sword, then you'd like this.

  • @WeAllJuggleKnives
    @WeAllJuggleKnives  Před 12 lety

    Ah, that's called IWB (Inside Waist Band) carry. I don't carry any blades that way, so I'm not really sure what the longest would be. My friend carries a Kobun that way, so I would say at least a 5 inch blade length is do-able.

  • @WeAllJuggleKnives
    @WeAllJuggleKnives  Před 12 lety

    If they are the same price and length, I'd probably go with the Cold Steel one first. But, I think Himalayan Imports has some very good ones in that size for a lot less money, and they are still very good.

    I suppose that's understandable. For awhile now I've been buying various Khukuri brands (for instance Cold Steel.) and I wanted something legit rather than just a US one. And I stumbled upon Himalayan Imports and purchased one of their cheaper 18 inch Kobra Khukuris after doing some research.
    Of course from this video I imagine they're worth the wait.

    Great video.You mentioned carbon steel. Is it 5160? And is it full tang? It looks great. It looks like a modified leaf spring from a big truck. All the heavy truck leaf springs are 1/2 inch.
    Man that is long blade. I don't know if I colud carry it of my belt. I think it migh be too long and hit the floor. I am only 5'4", so legs are short I would imagine it hangs about 30 inches with the sheath.

    @Lokpyrite It's usually called either a cho or kaudi. Opinions differ and there seems to be no definitive answer, both as to any possible intended utility, as well as to a single symbolism. It's been said to represent things as varied as a trident, a cow's hoof, and a clitoris/lingam.
