I refill Leo's food bowl twice a day. He's a great cat and won't overeat. With can foods, I feed him one can a day. Half in the morning and half at night. When I feed him canned foods, I leave a little bit of dry food in case he is still hungry. This probable wasn't helpful. LOL There's a lot of information online. I think when they are younger, they eat more and once they are older, they eat less.
