ULTRA CLEAR RIVER and BIG BROWN TROUT!!

- A morning spent driving around trying to find fishable water (and it's supposed to be summer!) turned up nothing but rivers that were too high and un fishable so by lunchtime we were driving back to Taupo to try and save the day on one of the locals.
High but clear water and some brown trout starting to show up meant that we were in for a chance to close out 2022 with a fish....

I'm still amazed at how persistent you are trying to catch those browns. I definitely need more patience. I give up pretty quick if they don't take the fly after about 10 casts and a couple of fly changes.

Those browns look so different from sth island browns. Head shape looks way different

After the cyclone here all the rivers here are extremely flooded, some of the rivers were half way up the stop banks so no fishing for me :C
What a hog, congrats Alex! Quick question, anyone used the SA Absolute Supreme Fluorocarbon tippet? They say supposed to be stronger than regular Flouro and holds knots better but really spendy. Thanks
