Came over to North West London from Ireland on holidays as a teen back in the late 90s.
Zonk was everywhere along with Cosa.
I specifically remember a huge Zonk piece on the inside of the rail bridge at Kilburn across from the platform👌
Zonk was THE don bk in the day. All the high pieces above shops in Cricklewood Kilburn child’s hill 🔥🔥 NW legend.

There was no touching this guy as an out there writer with real talent. All the high pieces everywhere he could find a spot. Prolific as anyone those days 96-99. Legendary 💯💥
What happened to Joak?
For me the most Diabolical Dub Star of them all has to be the Infamous COSA! Makes me all nostalgic and takes me back to being a kid! Man battered it through and through still love seeing bits here and there! For me it’s got to be that COS that just says london all over!!!!! AC all day!

Growing up in the Willesden Green area, I’ve seen a lot of Zonk’s work. The rate he was up between 96 - 99 was mad. He’s was one of the most prolific writers out there. He and Cosa were a proper dream team.

I love these podcasts so much man, huge respect and admiration for all involved. The London graffiti scene is so elite yet still esoteric. Like kings and toys got a generation involved in graff, I think these podcasts will have the same effect. Incredible work. And we’re all incredibly luck to hear these stories for posterity! Fume has some of the best style and piecing we’ll ever see. Together with Zomby and Teach, that was one hell of a team on a mission. Add Zonk and Cosa, it just shows the levels of DDS. The best graff crew in the country 💯💣💥
Zonk is brilliant. I'm new to these names but I love his pieces. I don't see a lot but him and zombie are 2 of my favorites that are killing it with that old school vibe but still contemporary . Thanks, KK, as it's fascinating you interviewing these legends. Appreciate your work. :)
If you were roaming the streets of N/W London during 1996-1999, you would have been in complete shock. He was up everywhere with the most amazing art but of course since those days 20+ yrs ago, a lot of the work got buffed unfortunately. But there’s still some legendary old graff still standing in the Willesden, Cricklewood, Kilburn areas

Zonk was well up in other cities too including Brum with Cosa and Korsa. I was still writing back then with my pic Rome and a few others including Zuke and Cryse whom I'd been writing on and off with since the 80's. Much respect to Zonk for putting in the graft! One question that I always wanted to know the answer to is did he get any coin from the caps that Top Man put out in 2003 with his tag on em?
Also used to smash the buses etc with Rate in the late 80's when he was living in Brum. Respect Zom NHS!
