This show is far from perfect, but I love that:
1.) They don't try to make Chon fall in love with the dude who tries to r*pe him. Rather, his romantic interest is the one who saves him from that.
2.) Chon kissing Ton without his consent is unambiguously shown to be a mistake and a breach of trust, even if a.) We know that Ton has feelings for him deep down, and b.) Ton's homophobia isn't justified by that action.
3.) (lowkey spoilers) Ton may start out homophobic, but he's never hateful toward Chon for it and once they get together he throws the homophobic nonsense out the window immediately.
4.) Ton's homophobia feels very realistic in the first place, and the reason for it feels grounded in reality.
I didn't mean for this whole list to be throwing shade at TharnType but HERE WE ARE 🙃🙃🙃
I am glad someone mentioned that series. I know that a majority of BL fans love it, but I just couldn't get past all the non-consent scenes being portrayed as just things that "helped" that pairing end up together as a positive road to a loving relationship.
