love it! made along with you, i need more practise as i couldnt cut mine so neatly to get the pockets straight. i glued mine into a junk journal attached to book pages on either side and will decorate it now.

Thank you! Yeah, it's probably easier to decorate it first. But I never know how I want it all to look and what papers I want on it until I get to embellishing the journal. Have fun with it!

This is really a lovely journal you're creating. I know most of your subscribers are experienced at journaling and crafting but for beginners can you show how you sew the inserts in? Thank you. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you as well! ❤ In my 2 most recent videos, I show how to prepare a hidden binding and sew in signatures (it's part 5 and 6 of a hardcover journal cover I did). I sew these inserts in just like I sew in those signatures. If you're a new journal maker, you might enjoy my latest 6 part video series. We even make a cover from scratch.

I'm making mine whilst watching your video and I got lost on how you sewed it into the journal since the journal was already made. I'm new to this and feel silly for asking but this is just to cute to not finish.
I sewed it into my journal at the same time I sewed in my signatures. You have to create the insert first, then sew it into your Journal. I'm just showing you what it looks like inside the journal and telling you to sew it into your journal with your signatures. You'll have to see a different video on CZcams if you need help sewing in signatures of a journal. Hope that helps. They make a very striking effect in a journal. Happy crafting

I guess I will save this one and put it in to the next junk journal that I do because I have a feeling this is going to become quite the habit. I've literally spent the last 3 days probably almost 30 hours creating my 1st junk journal and I don't know the last time I had such creative fun and I'm a painter so I enjoy being creative. But I think because I paint for a living and that can be stressful and this is just something fun to do on the side it's more relaxing. I love your channel by the way

Do you have a video showing how you sewed the signature into the book?
I treated the insert just as any other signature and sewed it into my binding the same way and at the same time as my other signatures. There are lots of videos on YT for sewing in signatures. I have a recent tutorial for sewing in signatures. It is part of a 4 part series I made constructing a hardcover journal

It just looks like you sewed it into a book that was already finished ? And just added it to an already sewn in signature using the same holes?? Is that right? It’s a bit confusing HOWEVER fabulous and I will figure it out !

I have been working on updating some of my older tutorials like this one. I will be redoing this tutorial very soon and I will show how I sewed it in. In the meantime, I sewed it in like it was its own individual signature.
Love this and will definitely make one. I’m curious why you didn’t put your decorative papers on before you sewed it into your signature. It would have been easier, but I am assuming there was a reason...
It was just the way I operated then. This video is almost a year old and my processes of crafting have changed a lot since then. My quality of videos has also changed a lot since then. This particular tutorial is on my list of ones to update and redo. You most definitely can decorate beforehand.

I'm sorry it bothered you. I guess I don't think about whether the placement of my tools will bother viewers. Also important to note that this was one of my very first tutorials. My videos have changed dramatically since this was made. It is on my list of videos that I plan to update.

I am watching for the second time and I have another question? Why do you sew the booklet in and then add the papers wouldn’t it be easier to add them and then sew it in?
I do it this way because I don't want the extra bulk and weight or the ribbon ties on when I'm sewing it in with my signature. I also do it this way because I can use up my smaller paper scraps from embellishing to cover up the folder. I tend to bind first, then embellish. You can do in the order that is most comfortable for you.

Just treat it like it is its own signature. Sew it in at the same time you sew in your other signatures
Did you sew the file folder into the middle of a signature after the 5 signatures were sewn in or at the beginning when sewing all the signatures in?
Sorry for the late reply. I treated the file folder insert just like another signature and sewed it into the binding at the same time as the other signatures.

I don't iron it. When I get it in a big bundle, I undo it and wind it onto a piece of chipboard like a spindle. I wind it so it lays flat. I think it makes it easier to use. For this insert, yes, I did cut it in half to be thinner
Why not cover with the decorative paper before sewing into journal??

I know this was tutorial was made 3 years ago, but I have no idea how you sew the booklet insert into an already journal? I love the tutorial but for me you skipped the most difficult part - how to sew a booklet into a journal that has already completed.
You sew it into the journal at the same time you are sewing in your signatures. Not after the journal is completed.
I don’t really understand how you sewed this in your book after you have sewed your other signatures in the journal.
