      U of T is not a social school so you really have to put yourself out there by joining clubs and extracurriculars and just doing shit that allows you to meet people. Rotman is an exception because they have to network or they won't get jobs at all, or at least that's what I hear from my friends in Rotman. I'm also an introvert and still am, but how I got out of my shell is I joined a frat (Sigma Chi) and that REALLY expanded my social circle and allowed me to meet some very high achieving people in different disciplines that I otherwise would not have met. If you're interested, come out next fall during frosh week to our rush events and meet all the brothers and see how it's like. You may have a negative impression of frats in general, which is quite understandable, but trust me, my frat is different. For one, we've outright banned hazing which is one of the primary reasons I felt comfortable joining in the first place as an introverted person. We do a bunch of stuff to dry to donate 20 grand to cancer research every year. Plus, you can't beat $600 a month rent in the center of campus xD. Come out if this seems like something you'd be interested in!

    Hi Richard! I have already applied to UofT Faculty of Arts and Science. However, I am planning to change my program (which is still within the same faculty) after finishing my first year as I applied to one I wasn't really interested in. I am aware that it is possible as long as I have the new program pre-requisites. Are there any disadvantages if I do this? Should I choose courses that suit my intended program in first year? Thanks!

    • @RichardHan
      @RichardHan  Před 4 lety +5

      Hello, thank you for your question. So first of all congratulations on applying to UofT! As far as I know switching programs shouldn't put you in any disadvantages. The only thing would be that in second year, your friends may know more content than you since they took all the courses that were required in their first year. However this ties into your second question, if you do take the courses that suits your intended program, you won't have to worry about this problem. I know some of my friends are switching programs as well, so its a pretty common thing. I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any further questions please let me know. I wish the best of luck to you in the future!

      Hello first of all thank you for your kind words, it really motivates me to make more videos👍 So unfortunately I didn’t take any one programs so my answer to this question will not be as strong. Congratulations on your acceptance and I am very glad my videos were able to help you. I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any further questions please let me know! I read on some forums that some UofT courses are hard not because of the content but because the teachers are bad and dont bother putting in effort because they have got tenure anyways. I also read that some professors bell curve grades on purpose to lower the average because apparently the dean doesn't like people doing so well. Are those things fully or partially true?

    • @eamantareen9880
      @eamantareen9880 Před 4 lety +6

      Hey, I currently go to UofT, just finishing up my first year and I've heard the ame rumours about the whole bell curve thing when I was applying. Regarding the professors, this isn't high school you can't expect your professors to spoon feed you all the information, considering there are about 500+ kids per lecture, you're gonna have to put in your own effort. Regarding the bell curve, its very rare for a professor to bell curve down, if the class average is relatively high, then the professor might just make a harder exam or just mark much harder. Again UofT is a internationally wide known university and with that comes its advantages and disadvantages, first year is where they will try to weed you out, but the university also provides a bunch of resources and if you genuinely have a good work ethic you'll do fine. Most of the people that are on these online forums are because they don't have the work ethic and don't want to put in the effort it requires to stay at a university like UofT so they come online trying to blame the university for all their problems.

    • @RichardHan
      @RichardHan  Před 4 lety +6

      Another great question, so from my experience I don't think the professors here are bad. I enjoy all my professor's lectures, but I would like to say that since I don't know all the professors in UofT I can't guarantee you that all the professors are like my professors. I think the content can get pretty challenging and that may cause some people to think that professors are not putting enough effort to explain the content. However so far my experience with the professors were positive and I know that there are lots of rumors about UofT but I don't think you have to worry about them too much (Its not as bad at it seems). I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any more questions please let me know. I wish the best of luck to you in the future!
