    Manu Ginobili had 34 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. However, the Spurs were defeated 108-103 in Game 5 of the WCF. The loss gave the Thunder a 3-2 series lead heading back to OKC. Ginobili sparked the Spurs offense and hit some timely shots when the Spurs were reeling. He lit up in the third quarter with 13 points. The Thunder regained control after he went to the bench and never trailed in the 4th quarter. The Spurs trailed 101-86 with 3 and a half minutes to play before Manu led one last charge to bring San Antonio within 2. Ginobili's game tying shot clanked off the back iron and sailed out of bounds, giving OKC the ball back with 3 seconds left.
    Always tough watching my Spurs come up short. They were close to another Finals birth and maybe a 5th championship. The good news is that the Spurs redeemed themselves from their early exit in last years playoffs.

    • @the_stewbear
      @the_stewbear Před 5 lety +24

      Absolutely, I still completely agree to this day. Harden is an awful example of how basketball should be played. He is elite level skilled, yes, but beyond that he has 0 affect on the game whatsoever.
      1) Below average defender at best. On ball, his footwork is atrocious, and off-ball is embarrassingly ADD
      2) If the ball isn't in his hands, he is WORTHLESS. Watch him whenever he doesn't have the ball and see how little he works to help his TEAMMATES get better shots
      3) He has 3-4 shooters on the court AT ALL TIMES, so naturally his stats will get padded bc he can get infinite one-on-one opportunities and just dish to a shooter
      And notice I didn't mention free throws... But in truth, the reason Harden doesn't win in the playoffs is because officiating is much tighter and the game is much more physical and hero ball does not win championships. Organized, and efficient teams do
      Manu on the other hand was passionate, involved everyone constantly, always thought multiple steps ahead of the other team, and was a physical and emotional leader. You can tell the team built off his energy. This man should have been starting but CHOSE to come off the bench because it was better for the TEAM (and the Spurs have won 5 titles playing team basketball). He worked on both ends of the court, and kept the team organized.
      It's not a difficult choice whatsoever... Manu>>>>> Harden
      And it's nothing personal against Harden. But, having 1 way to affect the game does not make a leader. He's a phenomenal scorer, but his game does not translate to WINNING like Manu's did. And it breaks my heart that we live in an age that is all about getting a highlight on Overtime, or HOH, or Ball is Life. That's stupid stuff, man. It takes a special dedication to be a part of an organization that has made the playoffs for 22 years in a row and it's sad that gets overlooked for players that take (honestly dumb) step-back 3's. Kids try to be Harden, when they need to use Manu as a role model on how to play basketball the right way.

    it makes me laugh when people try to compare Jamal Crawford or Lou Williams to Manu. No doubt they're phenomenal both scorers and are instant sparks off the bench but Basketball is a team sport and Manu is a full package, best passer or the Spurs easily, unorthodox moves, fearless finishes, crafty moves, great off-ball defense, and clutch AF. Not to mention his winning percentage and championships achievements internationally. He's my top 5 two-way guard of all time if I want to build a dynasty

    I will forever hate this series and each and every time the Spurs played the Thunder in playoffs cause it was all bs!!! the Spurs should of won this series in 2012 the only thing is that the league was giving this guys a push so that meant the Spurs getting screwed because of that.The only reason and the only way the Thunder won this series in 2012 was because this Thunder team got the advantage at the free throw line from fouls and always got the best calls at the right time don’t believe me look at the fouls advantage and the free throw advantage very time.Same thing happens in 2016 Duncan’s last year Spurs got screwed for the same reasons especially in a final contract year for the Spurs the league feeling the pressure not wanting Durant to leave cause it’s bad for Thunder and the NBA league.aSo when 2014 came the Spurs beat them and the refs but they were trying hard to screw the Spurs again but Spurs advances in beating them anyways.Thats why this playoff series vs Spurs are bs the Spur should have won them but were put in the poorest positions all the time!’ I’ll leave you with this how do the Spurs who are the number 1 team through this years are the team that fouls less then the playoffs come and they seem to be one of the teams that fouls the most in the league like one of the worst at fouling that right their tells you everything and was bs!! and Kevin Durant and Westbrook crying for every call to be a foul through this playoffs vs Spurs!! don’t believe me just rewatch this series and watch what I mean smh!!! Spurs we’re suppose to win and Manu was suppose to be seen like one of the main heroes in this playoffs match up but instead it is left as a great match up like if the Thunder and the NBA league made it seem like if it was a fair and square match up yeah right!! bs!!! but I don’t fall for it I never fall for it cause I watch this match ups closely and I know how the Spurs are as a team and see them when they are on the court play per play!!! but Manu was just epic in this playoff series!! just sucks that the Spurs got screwed 2 out of 3 vs Thunder smh!!!

      Your damn right, look at what happened next series in the finals against the Heat, no calls in favor of Durant, only one win by the Thunder, it was sickening. I appreciate every ring the Spurs have because the NBA was not on board with any of them, especially the 2003 one where they made the Lakers cry. I hate to be biased, but I couldn’t stand this Thunder team, it was so obvious that it was rigged. I remember hearing the crowd chant “Let Them Play”. The Lakers, Kings, Timberwolves, Grizzlies, Jazz, Clippers, Suns teams and especially The Mavericks that went against The Spurs in the playoffs got my respect in the long run. But I truly despised this Thunder team. I felt like they new that they were going to get the calls every time they played and they showed it with the lack of respect on the court. I am grateful that we beat them in 2014 and beat Miami Tainting Durant and Harden’s legacy up until Durant went to Golden State, then he really screwed his legacy in my career. Yes he won a championship but I know in my heart that it bothers him that he took that route. That is probably why he left Golden State, trying to salvage his reputation. For a snake he has really thin skin. I love seeing him fail at leading a team, that’s when he starts to blame everyone but himself. If it wasn’t for DJM Kevin Durant would be my least favorite basketball player for 10 years in a row, with LeBron finishing a really close second in those years too. Oh Kawhi gets an tie for first in 2017.

      @@christopherybarra1070 Rightfully!! said!! man I couldn’t of said it better myself 💯 I am so with you that the NBA was never on board with any of the championships the Spurs won it’s true.They did everything in their power so that they wouldn’t win any of them I laugh at Adam Silver saying his so thankful for the Spurs if he was so thankful he wouldn’t allow the Spurs to be continued to be buried and have them to forcefully have a super rebuild trying to keep the Spurs down as much as possible.He can do something about that if he really wanted to he has the power to do it but he doesn’t want to just look at how many TV games the Spurs have got since the big three retired.I am so with you that I am super proud of the Spurs championships because they came the super hard way while trying to be denied time after time and I would say that it’s for a fact if the league wasn’t super busy trying to deny them as much as possible the Spurs since the Tim Duncan era would of won more championships for sure more than what they already have.As for the Thunder your right it was sickening and embarrassing you could tell that they knew that they were getting all the calls at will that’s why they would cry and jump making big tantrums as much as possible as soon as they wouldn’t get the calls that they want lol like seriously crying kids.So yeah as far as Lebron goes and Kevin Durant goes they know deep inside that without playing with all the help in the world they wouldn’t have the championships that they have and that’s a fact.As for Kawhi doing us dirty he knows that without the Spurs he would never have became the player his become.The Spurs gave him the time to grow he was never the focal point when they won the championship so without the Spurs he would of never been who he is but him and his uncle even more so are to blame for what happened and Kawhi has gotten so big headed and lost humbleness.Also yes when we got screwed in 2012 it showed as the Thunder we’re not getting the calls no more as the league was pushing for Lebron to win.As well as 2016 the Thunder had no business beating us we had a hell of a super team that was a championship for sure that was super embarrassing of how the league screwed us it was obvious they didn’t have close to as good as the team the Spurs did not even close.Deep inside those Thunder teams know that without the help of the league/refs they would of never beat the Spurs and that being Tim Duncans final year Tim would of retired with winning another championship.But that same year the league felt immense pressure to get the Spurs out of the picture because it was Durants final contract year with the Thunder and they wanted Lebron to badly win a championship for the Cavs so if the Spurs are not stop nobody was going to stop them and it was going to ruin the leagues plans and the league did everything in their power to stop that because they didn’t want the Spurs ruining their plans.
