I'm looking forward to be home next Feb. Those of us who lived in the US know how expensive Healthcare is. For expats Healthcare in Panama definitely looks inexpensive than in the US. For local they feel is expensive and never had Dr visiting them😊. Growing up in Panama was beautiful and fun. We visit all the time and also thinking to moving back

Just subscribed! This video was very inspiring and encouraging. My husband and I are coming to Panama on a scouting trip next month and were super excited. Itll also be our kids first time out the country. We felt they should have somewhat of a say on this process as well, despite their young ages but we acknowledge this is a big move for them as well. We are also from the DMV area and, idk, we may be a little younger (40), hard to tell bc black don't crack 🤌🏽 but we also have a permanent pension due to the military so that visa is something that really attracted us as well.

Hello, thanks for a great video; I just discovered y'alls channel ❤
I was a few minutes in and saw where the attorney's name was listed with y'alls caption saying y'alls attorney is the best/is great, something along those lines. I'm glad y'alls experience was great, I reached out to this attorney and had a complete different experience. Long story short, her husband was unprofessional towards the end, she then started to defend his actions and they BOTH started belittling me and saying things like I'm incompetent, entitled and can't comprehend simple instructions. I had to report these people to the immigration department in Los Angeles due to the attorney having all of my personal information and threatening to sue me because I said she was being unprofessional and her husband being down right disrespectful and he's not a lawyer, just her helper. This set them off and they BOTH WENT OFF! Due to their unprofessional conduct, I put off my entire visa process and will seek other options with a different lawyer probably later this year or next. These people definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. Her husband is the exact kind of people that folks are trying to escape from! I'm going to subscribe and follow y'alls journey and if y'all have any other attorney recommendations, please share ❤

There is a difference between a visa and applying for residency, which is what it sounds you doing. As a US citizen you can stay 180 days before you have to leave for 2 weeks. That will reset your visa and you can stay another 180 days. For residency, since I am in my 40s, I opened a company here in panama. Then, went through the immigration process with my attorney which takes time. You will get a special stamp on your passport to show that you are going through the process. This allows you to go through the airports without a problem.

As a German, I worked & lived in Canada for 14 years. A friend of mine, Panamanian, suggested that I should visit his country. I always dreamed about living in a warm climate, palms and beaches. Who doesn’t? I arrived November 2019 - and got stranded in Panama in the pandemic. Why? Like you guys, I never intended to lose my citizenship of my home country. So I was for 10 years “only” a permanent resident of Canada. Why I’m writing only? Well. I didn’t know that Canada doesn’t allow permanent residents to board planes in a time of emergencies. Permanent residents are humans 2nd class for Canada. I do understand, that if a flight is fully booked, that citizens are 1st choice. But when I tried to board my return flight to Canada, I and several other passengers were told we can’t return to Canada. And what made me angry about this was that the A330 had only 80 passengers on board! Anyway. I got for weeks into panic mode. Called every week the embassy of Canada in Panama City. Until they had only the answer machine running….. Months later, I got a email that we can apply online for a return permit. I tried I’m guessing 2 years to get home. Every 2-3 months I filled out the online form. Until I realized that I was an idiot. Why not staying here? I had to pay a lawyer and government fees already because the Panama government asked stranded travelers to get legal. So I did had my pensionado visa already. I got rid of everything in Canada. Bought a small lot in the Coronado area. New start in my life. I didn’t leave Panama since…. Update: Health care. In Canada, when I did visit a dentist with tooth pain, the 1st words I received were: “Your credit card please.” Right. As a German, I am not getting use to that rudeness. Anyway. I always had bad teeth. Since I was a kid. 1 year ago, I got tooth pain. My neighbor told me to go to the public hospital for emergency treatment. Okay. Driving 10 minutes to the hospital in San Jose, just outside of Coronado. Register on the desk. “How can I help you?” - Tooth pain! “Ohhh poor guy. I see that you get in very quickly..” - Wait! No question about my credit card? Well. 10 minutes later I was sitting in the chair. Dentist is checking. “Ohhh wow. That tooth has to come out. No problem. I deal with it.” 10 minutes later I have to pay for the treatment and some medications. My bill? EIGHT DOLLARS ($8)!!! And in public hospitals they only accept cash. I must say. They do not do special treatment like root canal. But the doctors who practice in the public hospitals are volunteers who have their private clinics all over Panama if I understood that right. My dentist has a dentist clinic in La Chorrera what is around 45 minutes away from Coronado. I did visit him for a cleaning appointment what did cost me $20. My 2 cents for health care costs.

We appreciate your tuning in. Sorry you got stranded here in Panama, but glad that you have chosen to make it your home. @glennandsheribrooksjr Make me a big favor. Do NOT compare US prices to Panama prices, please! If you searching for rent, or buying properties. Just figure out what a Panamanian can afford. I have no trouble if rich Americans can throw around money without using common sense. But Panamanians do have a big problem with it. And the Panamanians who like to sell - just do not sell to Panamanians! They wait - right - for a stupid Gringo to show up. That's the honest truth in Panama.

@glennandsheribrooksjr Well. After 5 years in Panama, I had to listen to people who said: Did you know what it would cost me in xxxxxx? Surprise, Surprise. Your not in xxxx anymore. Stop comparing prices from other countries to prices in the country you live in. I personally would go nuts. Why? Lays potato chips for example. In Germany €1.11 on sale. In Panama $4! I started looking how much a Panamanian becomes every months. That's around $650-$800. Potato chips? No. Toothpaste prices in the USA comparing to Panama? OK. 99 cent on special, one dollar something regular. In Panama? $3.xx!! If you live permanently in Panama, start looking at prices like Panamanian people please. No Panamanian is buying in Coronado a 60m2 apartment for $280,000! Expats do. And can't sell them anymore. Only saying. Stop comparing apples with oranges!
