This drop in VESC kit makes it easy to repair the GT yourself in a few hours compared to sending your board all the way back to Future Motion for repair. How important is the right to repair for you? What will be different from the GT-V kit and reusing the V1 electronics from ADV pro when v2 electronics released? I know you previously stated that the ADV/Pro v1 electronics could be repurposed to vesc GT. will I need BOTH the v2 electronics AND GTV kit to get my ADV pro and GT updated? thanks in advance. Getting my USDC ready :)

@@drjaywhiz reusing the v1 esc is doable you are gonna need a Slim version of LCM which we will provide later otherwise it wont fit

Man, so glad I didn’t go down the trade in route. This is where it’s at right here! Props to Tony and the crew for making this happen. With this and a couple more upgrades and my GT will be dialed in 🤙🏻 can’t wait!
The idea of having a vesc without the concerns of incompatibility with existing GT accessories is the true win. At much as I love the Floatwheel, I’ve put money into my GT accessories. This gives them new life.

Here’s why you could climb without ATR. I bet Nico had torque tilt enabled, that will also raise your nose when climbing steep stuff - so it acts like a backstop when ATR isn’t there
This is correct, Torque Tilt was definitely key there. That's my bad, didn't know they were going to run no-ATR tests so I hadn't mentioned that Torque Tilt is also a factor. It was set to 0.10°/A with 15A start current threshold I believe, so not too major but definitely beneficial in keeping that nose off the ground

@PrestigeWheelRide Ideally, you'd want the ramp time to be as low as possible without experiencing negative side effects, such as in low speed high load situations that cause DC spikes, or just in general when transitioning to Field Weakening at speed. I've never experienced any noticeable transitions or side effects with 500ms personally

BIG thank you to Float life, Floatwheel and Tony and Nico's "Fast Flow" tune! I ride a GTV now!!😀The setup was easy (a bit nervous though, as I've never done a Vesc board until now, nor opened up the controller or battery lids beforehand, hey never bought with crypto currency either!
The board rides like a dream and if the board would break down in the future im not feeling stressed out having to send it overseas living here in Europe! Cheers from Sweden!

So stoked for more people to get into Vesc with this kit! Also might be a good move to make the motor connector tighter since that’s a common failure point. Range wise if you ride it the same way you ride stock GT it’s gonna be same range due to energy conservation, but obviously when you’re on a VESC you push it harder!
With a motor retainer clip, either from 1WP, TFL or some custom one, it's not an issue right? I can't imagine it being. Combined with dielectric grease should be low possibility of failure on the motor connector.
@@garrymullins my motor connector blew even with a retention clip. IMHO at the rate these connectors are failing even with retention clips, it's safe to say the GT motor connector isn't even designed to handle the current stock GT delivers, let alone a vesc controller that can easily double that. for comparison, most DIY vescs are running 4mm bullets per phase. GT motor plug phase wire pin is around 2.5mm. Likely that connector will bottleneck performance quite a bit and running that on vescs might be pushing it too hard for it to fail even more frequently, but it's not something tony can fix with a drop-in kit because you'll have to mess with the motor side connector

My board is broken (dead BMS) and Future Motion support is non existent in Europe as it would cost a fortune to send it to repair with them. I would love to go VESC as easy as this kit

Well, FM created this market/solution due to their practices. If they have anybody to blame, they can blame themselves.
The optics is BAD. Very, very bad. FM need to the get community spin crew out there as soon as possible. Like 5 minutes from now.

@PrestigeWheelRide If Tony makes it, FM will go after it. FM is shifting their focus onto him. I agree it doesnt violate patents. But that doesnt mean FM's investors wont try and stop it.
Stick your bluetooth antennae sticker on the plastic ledge piece of the cover that allows the GT status light LEDs to shine through. On a Floatwheel ADV board, the case isn't metal so you can stick it on the side no problem. GT case on GTV is metal and I suspect that sticking it directly on there can cause issues. Metal plates under custom footpads will also cause signal interference and that plastic ledge is also optimal for that as well since it appears to leak through it. Once I stuck my antennae on the plastic ledge my signal issues disappeared. Tony will be advising on similar soon. Tip: RT data values in VESC tool change rapidly and is a great indicator of signal strength because you can actually see the number change slow down as signal decreases and speed up as signal increases. If you have any doubts, do your testing that way and you will see exactly what I mean.
This is the future! It’s also what happens when FM tries to control repairs and limit the ability to allow digital tilt for aftermarket rails. I’m sure Julian and the folks at FM are fuming over this but it’s what happens when you continue to chastise your core community and throw lawsuits out every direction. We get so many people coming in to our store before ever owning a Onewheel and they’re all saying how much they dislike the company and how they don’t want to buy from a company that treats their customers this way. Many still end up buying but VESC is getting closer and closer to being consumer-friendly. Hopefully this helps FM loosen their restrictions going forward because their company was grown by the core community… even though they might not see it that way.

cool down. The overcurrent warning on the stock GT hill attempts got me thinking.

@nicoaleman just got the GTV kit from the float life. I have WTF rail. Do I need to calibrate its pitch? how do I set up when the heptic buzz kicks in? sry new to VESC and a lot of the videos gear towards older VESC versions?
Floatwheel offers good support for their products. if the board needs adjustment send them an email.
This is nice for those with GTs but what about some XR-V love? I've been dragging my feet getting my Lil focer installed but that's about to change.
