It's strange how people congratulate those who have become sober, but when you tell them you don't drink per se and never have, they call you 'weird'. Our society is pretty screwed up in this regard.

The only two things that keeps family's together is just misery and dysfunctionality, just to be screwed up in life as a whole. And for them to always be glued together 24/7 just so they can share that misery and dysfunctionality just so they can keep themselves going yet others around them going.

I was brought to this family to brake this cycle of misery. They almost made me one of them, my life became hell. Until recently, I figure it out the game and I took charge of the situation. Brought the focus back to me . And they have to see me with a smile on my face. They don’t get why I am not angry . And it’s because i have the energy of God in my heart 💜 Evil doesn’t get In anymore.

I give up ‘socialising’ a long time ago due to the connotations with alcohol. And I don’t drink. I in in infinitely better shape physically, mentally and financially for doing so. Walking away from friends groups and family is hard but they rarely offer any support in achieving your goals and are more likely to hinder your progress. Peace

Yikes! This video hits home. Struggled with this for years having to cut off family and friends. It was a hard pill to swallow . I always self relflected first becasue i just couldnt believe my reality of the people around me. It wasnt me. I had to unlearn so many things that i learned due to my upbringing as a kid/teen. I was growing and trying to force it on people who were stuck that i never reasonated with to begin with. The disrespect and hate became extremely loud once i woke tf up.

I grew up with an abusive father who believes he is right and is dominant. It's the emotional game play, that burns you out, I am experiencing it right now. Problem with dysfunctional families is they bring death to themselves in sneaky ways to control you by fear, which is why you must get away.

Because that’s what God is . He made us soldiers. But not every soldier survive. U need to be good and brave. You need to represent God. What would Jesus do ? Hate his anemies?
That is a lesson that took me way too long to learn. Not telling anyone what is going on in your life is one of the greatest rules to live by. And ppl benefitting from you but not the reverse is also very true. These are some golden rules to live by for sure.

I’m not gonna be one sided on this discussion but it’s true that people and even family can prevent you from reaching your actual potential or worse undermine it. So what’s the point of friendship? To have genuine care for one another and that is very difficult to attain in todays living.

I grew up with alcoholic father and always remember the parties fights growing up.. As a teenager I drank with friends smoked cigarettes even though I really did not like it. Got in trouble .. As an adult I stopped being around family friends and see them still celebrating Friday even when they do not work😂

I knew there was a little drama in the fam when I moved back here but it is bad, and they tried to pull me in. I told them all, that I am not discussing one to the other any longer. One has reached out and tried to go that way but I just stay quiet. It is ugly really ugly. I still love them though.

My parents drive me crazy but they were pretty good parents and I will take of them to the end. We do know the Lord and they are more aware than most their age. They are just aging and need help with daily things. We have been separated from majority of our Family for 20 years tho. They stay in Chicago and while I love and miss home that city I will never live there again

Most people,bar a few, haven't changed at all,I have to walk away from nearly everyone I knew before because I see they are not solid enough,too sketchy and the rest and that is right,they are not good for us,they take us off our path and it's even more easily done under the influence. I don't allow people to take the Mick when I've had a drink but I do lay stricter boundaries and keep them further away or cut them off,depending on how far they've pushed it.
