💯 I bought an ioniq5 since it was the closest ev to a wagon in 2022.
We have a bunch. They just have plastic cladding at the bottom and are called “crossovers”
Not enough people in the US are smart enough to buy one! I owned a E39 Touring with the Sports Package. I’m pretty sure it saved me from being paralyzed or unalived after I was rear ended at highway speed by a Jaguar.

Honestly get a M5 it's worth especially the touring looks so good
so many things you said that we’re so on the same page about. Being a lifelong M5 fan, getting into a 5 series and it just feeling right etc etc
I was sceptical about this new one as I hold the M5 in such high regard but after watching I am reassured by your enthusiasm for it, I hope it drives as well as they say.
The RS6 Avant is about 5,000 lbs, and that has no hybrid gear. This being about 500lbs heavier with all the benefits of being a true PHEV with 25-40mile range, is honestly not bad. It's about the same weight as the X5M, with similar interior capacity and an extra 100hp and a much lower center of gravity, and its a bit cheaper.
People are overreacting about the weight IMO, yes I wish it was 4500lbs but its still an amazing family vehicle. BMW is good at hiding weight in the driving dynamics. This is not intended as a track car.
Also people don’t know that the electrical engine powerband is almost instant at any rpm but it’s program to be progressive at rpm’s

I am really into EVs but the call of this V8 is strong, and I love wagons.
Great video. BMW is always fun to drive. I remember 1988 when i was young, i was able to drive a BMW M5 Alpine. This was a hole other level of power to all cars i drove before.

Agreed. I enjoyed mine, it was way more practical than the 03 540i I owned. the gas milage was decent as well.

Not a fan of the orange interior, myself. Also don't understand why the Germans just can't seem to quit gloss black plastic on high touch surfaces. I'm personally dying for a sporty EV wagon, but not sure we'll ever get one here in the states.

As what I'd consider a certified car enthusiast. BMWs have never resonated with me. Yes there are some impressive ones, but they've never done it for me. Very few german cars have. I did really really love driving my buddies modded manual RS4 v8. That was a fun car. Still didn't really want to own it. Love and have owned Lotus though, still very hesitant of the new stuff since the Geely move.

Please Kyle ask these folks in charge will the F90 M5 be faster than the current G90 M5 cause this car deserves 800 hp to compensate for the weight

The M5 sedan is a dud due to its weight. But the touring justifies its weight by raising its practicality to Dad Approved.

Ugh that orange. What's exciting about that mate? Sure to age like bad clams in summer heat. What's wrong with classic black? With all the ambient lighting it actually makes the most sense technically (you want fewer clashing colours not more). And resale value of an in-fad colour? Seems like a bad decision to me.
Also the car is 120 grand but you have to pay an additional 2 grand to get the driver assist features. Why? Why would you hip pocket people like this? It doesn't make sense. Just make the car 122 grand instead and you'll avoid looking cheap. Just include everything and be done with it.
In terms of looks can't compete with the RS6 C8

Swing and a miss from bmw, they should have brought the m3 wagon. This is too expensive and too heavy. Take it from me, i have w213 e63 wagon, this car goes through tires and brakes, and is soooo harsh, and it is like a feather in weight compared to this. If they’d bring m3 wagon, id be first in line, as would many actual enthusiasts.
bmw should have put in a smaller battery rather than a 14.8 kWh that weighs 400KG.

Panaamera 4s is a base Porsche and not a real Porsche. If you had a Turbo than you might be in the game The bmw is better

XM powertrain and this is not similar. It's almost the same.
Bummer its a hybrid that weighs the same as a TANK! They should have done it like Porsche did, with no battery and the hybrid system weighs only 50kg ekstra! Thats the way to do it! You dont need a big battery! You only need the hybrid system to pass through emissions and the ekstra power is allways good! I would never ever drive a M5 in electric only mode anyways!
This hybrid system is similar inc concept to the Panamera PHEV system which is a much better comparison
@@7ludi im just comparing the hybrid solution here. which is far superior on the new porsche 911 without a big battery.. I dont want that heavy battery. The weight should be a absolut maximum of 2000kg. anything above that is waaay too much! its an M5 not a Hummer
That’s the way BMW can’t do it. The way they did it was the only way to keep the V8.
I rather have the V8 and 400kg of battery instead a V6 without batteries

That’s a few million, so not worth at all for bmw . How did Porsche do it? Easy, all Porsches are now EV or plug in hybrids. Except the 911.
For BMW it makes a huge difference if the CO2 emissions for an M5 are 45g or 345g
The limit is 95g. For every g above 95g they have to pay 95€, per car produced. That’s ~24.000€ per M5 built if it’s without a plug in hybrid

way, way, way too heavy. It doesn't mean it isn't a good car, it just isn't an M car.
