Mr. Hampson is in a league of his own. He is enormously accomplished as a world class singer in his own right, combined with an astounding depth and breadth of academic and linguistic knowledge. His point about declining music programs in our schools is spot-on. Note that classical music audiences in the United States are aging out, while in other parts of the world younger generations are embracing the genre. He is right: there's no shortage of talented singers, but appreciative audiences are evaporating.
Mr Hampson has a passion to share. He is deeply and lovingly committed to helping singers improve. He is naturally honest, engaging and unpretentious. Sorry to learn of his knee replacement. He looks very healthy and singers should strive to become world class athletes. I wonder if some yoga instructor coerced him to push his body too far, which often happens. The untucked shirt with the jacket humanizes this Godly supernova of a man. The very definition of a masculine Renaissance Man.

Why I highly respect Sir Thomas Hampson is, that he communicates and teaches on the highest academic level, based on loads of experiences, researches, theoretical and actual/practical knowledge. Very very rare.
Academic means exactly that, what he’s able to represent: highest knowledge about music, vocal repertoir, languages, literature, human physics and psychology related to practical singing and perform, furthermore ability to help and teach with them in 100%.
He is certainly one of the really best singer, singing coach and academic tutor in our days in my opinion.
    Best regards, Robert J Schroff

Just FYI, Cadie at 1:16:37 actually sang Pamina's aria from Die Zauberflöte, Ach ich fühls and not Mahler (!!)

Milosz fans will be disappointed to find Op. 45 No. 2 is omitted: the last song is No. 3, O boundless, boundless evening.
