The ONLY Quest3 Face Gasket you'll EVER need: AMVR Ice Silk Facial Interface

  • This Quest3 facial interface does it ALL.. and succeeds. AMVR's new 3-in-1 facial interface with their 'ice silk' facial cover is far more than just a cover, it improves all the crucial aspects of VR from comfort, FOV and immersion while solving all the problems of the default gasket.

    Some updates that didn't make the video:
    - The first version of this did have light leakage from the vents but they revised it and now only sell V2 which is the model in this video. V1 also had a smaller nose cover which was also fixed in V2.
    - The ice silk pad can be washed but shouldn't be scrubbed roughly as it could damage the soft silk.
    - It is compatible with the Meta and Kiwi Design charging docks but it won't sit properly unless the nose cover is removed.
    - Lens fog is also gone thanks to the added ventilation. Removing the nose cover will also provide more ventilation, some people do prefer to keep the gap.
    - Flipping the Bobo M3 mounts in reverse does not work as well as it does on my GoMRVR strap as demonstrated in the video.
    - AMVR did supply this for review but it's not a sponsored video, I'm just sharing my honest experience with it which was genuinely impressive.

    Many people find the nose area of the AMVR gasket for, Meta Quest 3 uncomfortable, since it has little thin plastic bits that stick inward at the nose area. The way to fix that problem is to use some diagonal cutters to snip off the extra bits of plastic and then push the pad held on by velcro abit over so it no longer is where the bit that got cut off used to be. That is what I did with mine. After that it is extremely comfortable. The difference in only a few milimeters on each side, but it makes a world of difference for most poeple with normal or bigger size noses.

    TBH I don't really have any problems with the stock Q3 interface. With my Q3 Elite battery strap (a good, latest Dec/2023 batch) the balance is so good I don't need to tighten the headband very much so it kinda floats on my face. I just checked mine again now and realised it can come loose if the spacers aren't snapped in while the rest of it is snapped into the headset. It's easy to dislodge the spacer if you pull it the wrong way. The gasket itself snaps in tightly, it's actually quite hard to get out.

    Don’t buy air vents let light in nose piece is great but as nice as the silk pad feels it has a crease in the top which leaves creases in ur forehead after 10mins use to be clear the stock has never done this even after 4 hours straight gaming u can see the crease in the video

    • @Verociity
      @Verociity  Před 5 měsíci

      The light leaks were only on V1 which was pulled early on, the V2 in this video is fine which is all they sell. It looks creased but it sits flat on your face when worn, as you can see my finger slide across it everything flattens down very smoothly. If you are finding it leaving a mark you can always ease the pressure, but it's so soft I leave it compressed and don't have any issues after hours. The only marks I've had left on my face we're always from the stock fabric pad from day one, it's unbearable.

Only good thing about the product is the nose light blocker little did I know u can buy them for £4 , hindsight a beautiful thing 🤦‍♂️

  • @lan1ord
    @lan1ord Před 5 měsíci

    I purchased those, and the quality is not as good as the original. I also wear glasses, and this mask is narrower than the original. So, I'm not sure what you mean by saying it's wider (you can measure it if you have doubts). Additionally, the 'silk' cover has 'cut offs' on the sides that stick out, and the fit isn't ideal. I have an average nose size, but I can feel more pressure with the AMVR mask compared to the original. So, I think it's very individualized. It's not a solution that works for everyone.

    • @Verociity
      @Verociity  Před 5 měsíci

      Are you feeling nose pressure from the side or front? If from the front you can adjust the spacer back by one level, if from the side you can also remove the nose cover quite easily. I put both gaskets side by side in the video so you can see the AMVR is slightly wider, which I also notice when wearing it. Did you buy v1 or v2? maybe the earlier version is a different size.

      The way I see it, if you plan on using your Quest3 for a few years then it makes sense to make it as comfortable and immersive as possible. The official gasket is the same as the one in box, so if you're willing to buy that you might as well buy something that actually improves the experience. What are the negatives?
    Be objective or its only sponsored sales pitch not a review.
    I was thinking of buying this but there are many complaints from reviewers.
    1. the vents allow more light in then the oem.
    2. The adjustments require removing the interface completely to adjust.
    3. The plastic feels cheap and easy to break.
    4. The nose piece is cheap, breaks and or gets in front of the lenses.

    • @Verociity
      @Verociity  Před 5 měsíci +1

      If it were just vague praises then maybe it'd seem suspicious but I explained all the advantages and why in detail as objectively as possible so there'd be no doubt over these claims, I also mentioned that there are no negatives other than being unable to see through the nose gap which isn't really an issue with the improved passthrough.
      1. V1 did have some light leakage but it was fixed and now they only sell V2 which is fine.
      2. Yes you do need to remove the gasket to adjust it but this is something you'd only ever do once.
      3. The plastic feels very sturdy to me, just as solid as the default gasket, it's not something that's going to take any abuse either.
      4. The nose piece only needs to block the light and it's silicone which is soft and adjusts over every nose evenly, what exactly should an expensive silicone feel like? I'm not sure how you'd break a small piece of silicone without forcibly tearing it up. If it somehow did get in front of the lenses it would take 2 seconds to snip.
      If it turns out I just made everything up I would wipe out all my credibility in one video. If something really is this good it could actually mean it's a great accessory that achieves what it sets out to do and excels which is why I was so specific in this video.

      Update: Having purchased this "updated" interface and been using this for nearly 2 weeks, I gotta say I don't recommend it. It does indeed have very noticeable light bleed through the vents. You can see straight through them. This may not be the case if it's set to the closest setting, but then why have an adjustable interface?
      The foam is comfortable, but only for a short time. It's low density, so It flattens out rather quickly like memory foam tends to do, and soon, you just feel the plastic edges pressing painfully on your skin. This may be better on a halo headset than an elite.
      The nose peice also likes to go under the nostrils sometimes, and while it does cut out most of the light, it still lets some in.
      The plastic feels ok. I didn't feel like I would break it.
      So in conclusion, if you want an interface that is set to close and are using a halo style strap this may be good for you, but if you require an adjustable interface on an elite strap and want to use it for extended periods of time, I would look elsewhere

    • @Verociity
      @Verociity  Před 4 měsíci

      @@o0Silverwolf0o I've got it pressed almost to where I can see the edge of the screen and it's still comfortable with both leather and silk pads, on both halo and elite straps, even after hours of use it's still soft. I only notice the light leakage if I'm directly under a light and with the screen off, even then I have to look for it to see it. If you do find something more suitable let me know because I just can't imagine anything better.

      @dacasman Před 5 měsíci +1

      They made an amazing headset for the cost. They're actually selling them at a loss. They make no profit on them due to manufacturing cost.
      So If they focused too much on making it super comfortable then it would cost even more and most people are completely fine with how it comes right out of the box anyways.
      The reality is, only a small amount of people find the need to upgrade for comfort and Meta was thoughtful enough to make it very easily upgradable with aftermarket straps and facial interfaces for us hardcore VR users.
      You also have to keep in mind Meta has to design their facial interface to be as comfortable as possible for a huge variety of face sizes and shapes, all while being super durable and resistant to sweat and mold.
