Restoring the Glory of Vishwanath Temple in Banaras: Why we need Kashi Vishwanath Corridor?

Look what we are doing to the world famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The area around it has been badly encroached upon and several small temples have been occupied, partly demolished and shops opened in. The Banaras administration is trying to remove this encroachment but a campaign of lies is being run misinforming people that the govt. is demolishing the temples. In fact, many small temples have been reclaimed from encroachment and handed over to Archaeological Survey of India for restoration.
The govt is also buying around 170 houses, paying more than twice the market price to create a wide corridor between Vishwanath temple and the Ganga river. People could then come straight for darshan of Vishwanath ji after taking a dip in the holy Ganga. Today they have to stand and wait hours in the narrow lanes approaching the Vishwanath temple. When I came to Varanasi in 2011, I loved the temples but hated the narrow streets and dirty ghats, and wished the ghats to be developed like that of Ahmedabad riverfront and the temples to be like Akshardham, but at that time it was looking impossible to me, but when Modiji went there I hoped that he will do the same magic that he did here in Gujarat. Now the time has come and the things are on track and I really want to thank Modiji for the efforts he is putting in it.

Nobody should buy from these vendors who have built their shops encroaching into the temple. If devotees can come together to boycott these shops, the problem will be solved in no time. Who will bother to run a shop that has no customers ? Hindus are their own enemies. :(

India is home to and Indians are inheritors of the the oldest continual culture of the world to which Kashi is the hub. Modi said he would make this comparable to Kyoto in Japan as a world heritage site. I used to live just 40 mins away from Kyoto in Osaka, and visited its shrines and cultural displays more times than I care to remember. Kyoto is the cultural capital of japan and filled by tourists from all over the world. Many Japanese temple deities are also Hindu in origin. The Asura image at Todaiji Jinja at Nara, a sister city, is plainly Hindu. Nara also has a famous deer park, does that ring a bell? Japanese temples also have dwarapalas on either side of the gates and have Lions with open and closed mouths signifying AUM. My point is that Hindu culture has had a huge impact on cultures across the globe and it is a shame if the centre of this culture is relegated to remain but as a neglected shoddy, shabby dirt pit. To restore this site to its full glory would do a great deal towards uplifting self pride in the people of India.

Last month only I visited Kashi after Kumbh snan along with parents..
Sach kahu to bahut dukh hua baba Vishwnath ki dasha dekhkar, encroachment everywhere.
Now hope that things will be better in coming one to two years after special corridor become operational..
There r lot of temples we found from debris of old property demolished for corridor, I have seen almost all those temples u shown in this video..
