  • Craig Roberts takes you round Salford Quays near Manchester, to photograph urban landscapes and abstracts. We discuss compositions, technique and using filters. www.cityphotowalk.co.uk
    The video gives advice on shooting water, photographing architecture and looking for creative abstracts in this kind of urban location.
    We use neutral density filters to control contrast and the Lee Big Stopper to extend exposure. We also shoot with a polariser to boost colour.
    You can attend your own one-to-one photography workshop at Salford Quays by going to www.cityphotowalk.co.uk
    You can see my other urban landscape photo shoot in Shoreditch, London for Lee Filters here: • LEE Filters - Seven5 C...

    Composition --> We all have to learn that our pictures are a matter of (a strong) personality. Your videos are encouraging.

    Craig your photography is excellent and the overall presentation is very calming adding with the explanation of each composition you present. I really enjoy all of your presentations and I think they are some of the best that I have watched. Keep them coming. Oh yeas, the music is fine too.
    Cheers.

    The building 10 minutes in, brings to mind the Emperor Ming's Palace from Flash Gordon :-)

    I've photographed this area before, never at dusk though. Not far from me and I only work 3 days a week. So no excuse.
    Another very informative and easy to follow video.

    Great shots. I really enjoy learning from you. I love using a Tamron 16-300 mm lens on my Nikon D 5100. I find it covers a lot of the framing I like to do
    Thanks again.

    I love the symmetry at 2:12 and 2:19. Were these shots taken handheld, as it appears in the video? If so, do you have a levelling tool in your camera?

    Many thanks, I want to try Long Exposure and I’ll be visiting this area very soon, hopefully today depending on the weather. I have a 10 stop nd filter but my budget does not stretch to the Lee Filters unfortunately. Only have a Canon 1300d and want to learn as much as I can before splashing out on an upgrade just yet.

    Not often you hear a landscape photographer say the words "Nice clear Blue Sky"

    Great video, Craig, I think your photography is terrific, one question I have was to do with the music you use in your videos. Its a pretty eclectic mix, what kind of music do you listen to or use for the videos?

    • @e6Vlogs
      @e6Vlogs  Před 7 lety +1

      Thankyou. I choose whatever music I think suits the videos. I'm not sure my favourite heavy metal choice would suit, so I hope there is a good mix for everyone, without dominating the vlog too much.

    One of my favourite videos of yours, Craig, urban landscapes are the best. I hope you don't mind me asking but do you know who did the music track that plays around 6:38 into the video?

    • @e6Vlogs
      @e6Vlogs  Před 7 lety +2

      Thanks. Considering this was one of my first attempts at vlogging, I'm glad you like it! The music is just a frebbie from the CZcams Audio collection. Think its called Across the Ocean by JR Tundra.

      Brilliant thanks for that, its a nice instrumental track, been trying to find it for ages.

    Hello Craig, how do you manage the "long exposure noise reduction" while capturing with 10 stop filter.

    • @stevef4010
      @stevef4010 Před 5 lety

      There is a dark frame subtraction when you do Long exposures. So 20 sec exposure is followed by 20 sec frame w/shutter closed..eliminates all noise.

    Thought I’d watch this again as I do shoot here quite often but one thing Salfordians don’t like is saying Salford is in Manchester 🤣, I’m a Manc Craig but lived in Salford with my first wife for nearly 20 years and I was always getting grief for saying it.

    • @e6Vlogs
      @e6Vlogs  Před 2 lety +1

      My apologies to Salfordians, but my excuse is that this video is probably also watched by viewers in the US or even Australia, who might think Manchester is 10 mins outside of London!

    Craig, love the video....sorry to be pedantic but as a Salfordian , the City of Salford is not in the City of Manchester....Salford is a separate City....sorry once again :-)

    • @e6Vlogs
      @e6Vlogs  Před 6 lety

      Fair point Alan. This is an old video though and for many overseas subscribers, if I said City of Salford, they'd think, where?! Tell 'em Manchester and they'll probably have a clue!
