A great 4x4 in its day. I owned a 1965 SWB Rag Top then bought a 1975 SWB Hard Top. Basically the same specs. Almost unbreakable, handled the rough bush tracks and small rivers with ease. Maintenance was simple, everything big and well made and only required a few basic tools. Easy to keep in tune, push rod engine with points, old technology but robust. Good access to grease points after each river crossing. Salisbury differentials were uncomplicated. CV joints the same. The oil bath air filter cost absolutely nothing to maintain. Instrumentation was adequate for its time. Getting the best out of the engine and gearbox (no synchro on 1st) needed practice but it was actually well matched in the rough. Highway driving was just a little slow. The only drawbacks were the utilitarian style of seats, the tendency for the welded body panels to rust and the main tie rod connection to the steering box otherwise a very good vehicle back then.
