  • This is the first video from my recent Lofoten in Winter workshop. Like my previous videos from the Dolomites is used an iPhone and a DJI Osmo 3 gimbal to record behind the scenes of my recent workshop there, explaining some of the locations and outlining the thought process behind some of the images.
    If you’d like to join me for a landscape photography workshop in Italy or Iceland next I’ll be co-leading groups there in 2021. Check my website for more information www.andymumford.com/workshops/

Andrea and I just got back from Iceland last week and were blown away at how incredible it is in winter. We were up in the Highlands in Landmannalauger in a super jeep and it was breath-taking. The only people there, the whole place covered in white...it was absolutely magnificent. I've just finished Skyping with him to discuss the itinerary for the workshop there next year. Great video Andy, love the advice how your compositions are thought through. Don’t know how busy you are in these most difficult times but maybe a video giving your camera settings for the Xt-3. Also your thoughts on the Xt-4 if you have got your hands on one. Look after yourself and stay safe.

    • @AndyMumford
      @AndyMumford  Před 4 lety

      Hi Alan, thanks for the comment, glad you liked the video. My XT3 settings are pretty much default. I shoot RAW and have the film simulation set to Pro Standard Negative (because what I see on the LCD and EVF and the live histogram are based on the JPEG and NOT the RAW file. Pro Standard Negative is closest to RAW, so this way I get the most accurate exposure preview).
      I haven't seen an X-T4 yet and don't know when I will as deliveries have been delayed. Also, I like to test cameras in the field, and with my trips cancelled for the next few months it's going to be a while before I can field test it. Maybe something in May, but I really don't know.
      Hope all is well with you, stay safe

    Hi Andy, two things:
    First, thank you for making your videos about Lofoten and Fujifilm cameras! Because of you I looked more closely at Fujifilm, and ended up getting an XT2 which I love. But much more importantly, you were a big source of inspiration for me going to study a year of photography in Lofoten. There's a photography school in Kabelvåg in the eastern part of the archipelago that I learned about when researching Lofoten after seeing your videos. I sadly had to leave early because of Norway's COVID quarantine measures, but I hope I can finish my year after Easter.
    Secondly, you should visit the eastern part of Lofoten as well! Although the nature isn't quite as extreme as in Reine, there's lots of beauty there too. I'm hoping that this doesn't come across as shameful self-advertising, but I have a few pictures on my Instagram that might showcase what I'm talking about: instagram.com/henrikbvm/

      Hi Henrik, thanks for your comment....it's really nice to know that they influenced and helped you.
      I've actually driven through the eastern part of Lofoten (the first time I visited I drove from Tromso) and remember seeing some really beautiful areas, but I've never had the chance to go back and explore it. Last year I also spent a lot of time in the area on the south between Stamsund and Henningsvaer, which was also beautiful

      @AndyMumford  Před 4 lety

      Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the video. It's very rare that you need to focus stack with an APS.C camera (I use a Fuji X-T3) as DOF is so long. At 10mm everything from 40cm infront of the lens to infinity is in focus

      Hi Juan, thanks for the comment, it is an amazing spot. The images aren't over exposed. There are bright parts where there was strong direct light, and darker shadows. For the two images shot in overcast weather where white was a strong element I pushed the processing to the right to keep the whites clean (darker whites look muddy), but they're not over-exposed.
