- This video is a simple comparison of the two modern engines.
GE90-115b the biggest and the most powerful commercial engine available.
RR Trent XWB-97 One of the most efficient engines in the world.
Both engines' take off performance settings are unknown.
GE90 does sound like it was quite derated, but that is just a speculation.
This is just a general comparison.
Do you think the roar of the new Trent XWB beats the classic grumbling sound of the GE90?
Which is your favorite?

People: airplanes sounds are unbearable
Aviation fans : most satisfying sound in the history
My ringtone is literally the XWB sound😂😂😂
Always satisfying ❤️😍
xwb has the best plane sound after the dc10
@@TameemAlkadi what how
@@plutoidrepublic2765 I made a custom one
The RR known for it's efficiency and roar, whilst the GE90s boasts the gigantic size and power. Both are marvelous!
I prefer the GE 90 over the RR XWB. Last month, there has been some reports of cracks inside Trent XWB engines.
Yeah both ftw!
I agree!
The ge90 is insanely loud, you can feel and hear it far away when it takes off
Boast 😂
I love the metallic rumble from the XWB, but I also love the ge90 scream. Cant make up my mind.
3:17 wow that sound
Sound looks powerful
/watch?v=oeZW0_EVC1A& then you will get even more impressed by that engine. same enginge btw, just better audio quality
Trent xwb-97 have double spoolups but ge90-115b have only one spoolup
@@fushujiverse no
That's a climbing thrust sound
The RR Trent-97 XWB is made for powerful but fuel efficient operations with a great roar
...but the GE90 is for the extra boost of thrust and has a very beautiful spool up sound
I like both engines soo much!
Daaaang, the Trent really impressed me. Just when i thought it reached takeoff setting, it went VROOOM and even higher. GE90 takes the cake for the best startup sound tho!!!
It went for max thrust.. so it was higher than normal for that take off
The A350 and its RR XWB is amazing! Definitely my choice!
Same
GE-90 IS LOUD AS HECK While the Trent XWB Is Silence But Its Roars Are EPIC!
@Royal Air same but i like airbus more than boeing
But the Trent XWB is not as powerfull like a GE90 and the shrill voice of the GE90 is very unique in character compared to the Trent XWB which at first glance sounds like the PW4000 .
Exactly 💯. Team Airbus
The XWB Sounds Like The PW4000 On A 777!
I Strongly agree it sounds like the pw4098
2:05 was the best spool up ever! Listen to these engines!
The best ! Trent Xwb
gotta love the rr trent xwb since when it lowers it's power from takeoff, it becomes somewhat more aggressive sounding
That’s what I love about it. But I gotta love the GE90s startup.
Flew Seattle - Doha on 773 and Doha - Cape Town on a 359, so had the pleasure of experiencing both engines. Both are awesome.
Clearly the Trent XWB has an awesome mighty roar! All goes down to personal preference but the Trent XWB does it for me without second thoughts whatsoever!
Trent XWB-97 turbofan engines get my juices flowing, it's a very beautifully engineered engine.
Fantastic video, congratulations!
1:59 Trent XWB-97 Takeoff
4:25 GE90-115b Takeoof
☺☺☺
Time saver
Both of these engines sound AWESOME!!!!!
They’re both so fucking awesome so idk which one is better 😰
Gotta love the change in engine pitch when they take over the gross weight during liftoff.
I think the A350 has a deeper grind sound on take-off compared to the 777. Where as the 777 has a louder whine and quieter grind combo sound.
I’ll take 2 of the GE90’s. AWESOME!
Passengers : I wonder if the wifi is working or who is going to pick me up at my destination apt
Me:
Oh my frickin god that roar from the A350-1000's Trent XWB sounds amazing literally 2:06 the Devil was summoned
I know right?! Just listen to that rumble!
Ikr is sound is so powerful
but then it goes silent, which is why the GE90 is better
@@AverageAlien yeah
Listen to that rooaar 3:15 sounds like cutting a literal metal tube
Boeing 777 sounds best , to be honest.
The engines and yes
I’m glad you were honest about that
Boeing 777 is not an engine…. which engine do you like better, the Rolls-Royce or the GE?
@@AvocatDude 😂
@@AvocatDude Yeah , I like GE-90 better.
Both❤️...Ge90-115B and Trent XWB engines...are my fav.
Havnt messed with the RR Trent but I work on RR rb211s often, I love that engine. Has its downs but I prefer it over the PW 2000
Roll Royce hands down, beautiful sound
RR the best.❤
I just love the size of the GE90/9x
GE90 forever!!
I love the GE90 Bc of its Outstanding sounds.
we all love airbus, but the ge90 makes boeing faster and attractive. but which do you fly first?
I noticed you have 115 likes, I will leave it there. If you know you know...
@@southwest737gaming9 The whine as well. Every newer aircraft has the same whine now, which shows that the GE90 was ahead of its time
Haha There's a new one GE9X
used to live ~4 miles away from Heathrow, can still hear the GE90 startup from there in the evening.
Great video.☺️ I saw this exact video on another CZcams channel ages ago.
Edit: I just subscribed to ur CZcams channel.
Thank you for subscribing! That mush be my old channel!! Thank you for watching both times!
@@AvgeekTraveling You’re welcome.☺️
Love the sound of Qatar airways a350 taking off!!
The Trent unit screams, yet it sounds so refined... definitely the Trent.
Hard to choose one🤔 I like both of them
Both are pretty cool but prefer the Trent's rollback sound. GE engine is so powerful and has that whine which is neat. My favorite was the RR engines in the L-1011 my first plane ride in 1977
RB211
GE90 has a unique sound character and very powerfull, although not as efficient as the Trent XWB-97, but it must be admitted that the GE90 is superior in terms of power and its sound is very unique in character 🔥
What A350 registration is that e.g. A7-Axx?
And what airport?
Amazing video
Oh wow! 777-300ER GE90 and A350-1000 Trent XBW both has a same engine volume and sound effect
There's nothing quite like the scream of a GE90 at TO power.
Love 777-300er GE90 115B ever ,next 777X GE9X can't wait ...
I love the gRRowl of those trents…
that was quite a high power takeoff on the a350, as the engines normally only spool up to where they have that roar, while these went past the roar phase, please correct me if im wrong
Love the metallic rumble so mucbb
Looks like the RR did a full power takeoff. The GE used roughly 70% with same results
and sounded awesome! Winner GE90.
70% no. You also fail to factor in the take off weight and flight ranges for both aircraft, neither of which you could possibly know.
Wow…tough call. They both have their own distinctive sounds, and they work very well on their respective airframes, but I have to say I prefer the sound of the RR.🤷♂️😄
the RR-XWB has a unique turbo sound like almost a formula 1 sound in full thrust and growl of an angry lion especially the trent-xwb-84 engine.. such a fun to listen to in an aviations fan point of view..
3:16 Everytime i hear it scares me so much! anyone?
it's normal, he's changing the acceleration from toga (takeoff, go around) to climb.
The RR trent is also a masterpiece 😊
I LIKE A350-100 Trent XWB THAN BOING 777-300ER BECAUSE B777 ENGINES LOUND THAN A350 BUT B777 IS GOOD SOUND TOO
For the B773,the same runway as we took off on July 18th Qatar airways a350 4:00 in the afternoon,Doha-London
Are these both Qatar Airways aircraft?
Yes they are!
777 by far she’s the long lived beast of startups
No other engine can beat the deep startup of a GE90
More thrust, more speed ,what's not to like?
@@richardmorris7063 it’s not American
@@logansaviationadventures
You mean that its unAmerican to like a foreign made engine in preference to an American one? I don't think that was common currency, when the RR Merlin powered the Mustang to the top rank of American fighters in WW2, instead of it being just a modest improvement on a P-40 with its original Allison engine😀...........
Both are best
GE90-115B
The 777-300ER is my all time favorite aircraft.
With that said, GE90 wins for startup. RR wins for takeoff
The Trent XWB Sounds like a full Man TOGA Thrust due to the weather comparing good weather, in that case you have almost always a reduced trust the Man FLEX TOGA. And in the air the Thrust Leverages are set in de Climb detend and roll back at 1000ft-1500ft.
How did you manage to get the nice seat in both
I think there’s more buzzsaw in the Trents and more scream in the GE90s
A350XWB Perfect!
You need to add the P&W PW1000G - see if the gearbox design is quieter, better, etc.
I love the ge90 sound by b777-300er
Love both of them. But I think I like the GE sound slightly More. Slightly.
GE-90 Powerful Beast Engine ever!
Ge9X chuckles In the background
Both sound wonderful, the Trent a bit louder maybe.
That’s probably a thing with the microfone, because the Trent XBW is 1000 times quieter than the GE-90
RR Trent sounds like a souped up recent car. GE 90 sounds like a 90s Subaru Impreza.
Love the Rolls Royce Trent XWB
Gotta give it to airbus the Trent xwb sounds way better
That growl is just something else ❤️🔥
I'm normally partial towards the GE90, but love the rocket sound of that RR Trent engine!
Same, but I prefer the Trent XWB as it is quieter then GE90
@@GarlandTexasSpotter2024 Oh yes, I remember flying on the 77W and its engines were the loudest of any plane I'd ever flown on. It actually did sound like a rocket launch.
@@ChrisZoomER i flew on a 777-200LR. Those engines were so loud that im not booking airlines that have a 777 on a route
@@GarlandTexasSpotter2024 Woah, that sounds like some of the reviews I read about flying in the Concorde!
@@ChrisZoomER Yeah, I always hated loud planes when I was little, I still do hate it.
I agree with gotwricks !
That A350 Takeoff tho
Every engines have their own kind of pros and cons. But for me GE90 is the best engines in the world. May now have new Ge9X. Biggest engines in the world!!!!
They already were the biggest engines in the world.
Where was the take off from of bothe engines?
I think my fan space heater must be a distant relation of the RR trent, they are both about the same volume anyway.
I looked at a house next to an air force base. As the realtor was showing me the back yard 4 F15's took off in pairs with what sounded like full augmentation. The realtor had to stop talking while they took off. After they were gone she was just about to begin speaking again when four F16's roared over also in full burn. This was followed shortly by a pair of BONE's and what I am guessing was a tanker (3 engine, MD11/KC forgot what it was called.) The realtor thought she had lost the sale due to the jets. Honestly that was the only good point the house had was a free airshow. The answer to which of these engines sounds better I am going to say YES.
now ladies and gentleman you are witnessing man toga srs runway autothrust blue
RR 😍
RR’s sound is just UNBEATABLE, they sound like a V8, beautiful. GE’s are big and powerful but they sound like my computer overheating haha, the only engine that matches the RR is the PW4000. :)
wow GE90 best take off sound
I like the sound of the GE better over the Trent. But both are annoyingly loud at climb thrust setting. It is annoying to listen to that racket long term. Are they both quieter at cruise?
I‘m curious how the GE9X will sound like
GE all the way. The trent is beautiful but the GE is amazing. It's still the most powerful engine in the industry.
Not anymore. The GE9X would like to say 'hi'.
@@john3260 still GE tho
Trent XWB for me ;)
I can’t sleep on the plane WITH THAT ROAR IN THE SKY OF RR
It's the equipment being used by the recorder, not the plane.
I like ge takeoff and startup
Trent Xwb. AMAZING 👏👏👏👏👏♥️
The RR Trent xwb-97 took-off at toga
The Arabic safety instruction is so sweet 😢
Those Trents are too noisy compared to GE. The GE gets my vote.
Which seat number is this?
2:30
GE 90 just can't lose
5:11 pitch trim sound?
Not much between them to be honest perhaps the RR Trent a little smoother.
Really hard to choose.. but I'll stick with the GE90
IMO RR takes the win (in THIS video 😂) both are equally impressive and powerful engines.
both engines sound very powerful. but which engine gives more thrust?
the ge90 engines give more thrust.
‘Entering hyperspace’
Just so u know
U can't use dis for a very precise sound comparison
Both engines aren't set to the same takeoff power setting and they aren't lifting the same weight.
The outside temperature and field height is not also the same.
But both engines are very lovely
❤️ The R.R TRENT XWB
The field height is actually the same, both takeoffs are from Doha
All the rest is correct tho
@@pablocgvd No, the a350 took off from Tokyo Haneda, in the rain
@@abdullahsarker3595 I'm dumb lol, how couldn't I see all the JAL aircraft
anyway, the field height remains the same tho
Interesting, but not complete.! From experience, on take off undoubtedly the RR is way louder with it's roar, however the GE is more of a whine, but by the time cruising power/altitude is reached the RR goes almost completely silent whereas the GE still whines, albeit to a lesser extent than on take off.
I noticed that too. The A350 is a much quiter plane than other widebodys I've flown.
