My Life in Gaming makes documentaries, deep dives into retro console hardware, and more. - Hry
Fell asleep woke up to this lol
Same here lmao, was watching a video about trains when I was awake 😅
Same here
When I fall asleep, it's either I wake up to this, or AVGN yelling and screaming about how bad the game is 😅
"You finally awake"! Lol
It's 2Am, i was waching LGR before fallen asleep.
Same
The nail polish racks for displaying Gameboy cartridges is genius!
for real. They mentioned a link in the description, did you see it?
nvm I found it in their affiliate link. I'm a moron. lol
⭐ FANTASTIC DISPLAY for all of them smaller games yes! 😊
Ive got a giant wall mounted nail polish rack for all of my favorite n64 games. Ive got two racks that he has, I used them for my SNES games.
Loving these compilations! These are great to have running in the background during the day. Plus, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE hearing the intro music. All The Nostagia Feels!
probably the best intro music on youtube. i'll be working doing my think not interacting with anyone, and suddenly this tune will come to my head and i'll just smile and remember my nerd bros are out here making money on videos about nerd stuff. life was kinda hard growing up as one of the nerdy boys, but now some guys who seem just like my friends from back in the day are able to harness what we loved at the time and turn it into a career. that makes me so happy

I’m an NES Max fan. It was my goto controller growing up. There must be dozens of us.
Think there may be one of you. 😂
NES Max was my favorite controller as a kid, always felt so comfortable. Tried playing it as an adult and man that thing is cramped!
This channel genuinely provides a service to the retro game community and the production is top notch. Thank you for everything you do.
agreed and it ain't no accident. these boys are working hard
I hope we’re clearing the runway for that long anticipated First Party Controllers #3 video, for everything Xbox 360-era onwards
I LOVED the NES MAX, I used the hell out of that controller! Especially on Megaman and Ninja Gaiden
Same, most people, including Marc here... don't seem to comprehend how to use it properly XD
NES max was my favorite controller. It was perfect for the NES ice hockey game. :)
Blades of Steel BABY!!!!
I really like using music cassette cases for my Gameboy games. It's easy to print an insert that gives you a front and side cover and they stack & store really well. Plus you can put them into old-school multi cassette holders for display. The only issue is adding a foam insert in each so that the cartridge doesn't slide around.
R.I.P. Near/byuu
the sad thing about the Saturn Analogue and the Dreamcast controller is that they are the ONLY first party controller with a "no drift" analogue stick due to them being based on Hall Effect Sensors. No wear and tear here - everything else I know works with 150 year old tech -> the good old Potentiometer that WILL fail and die when used.
@Sal Padilla 3
The Duke felt perfect with Halo 1.. that controller was perfection when it comes to FPS games. My hands are a little big.. so maybe it's just me
MLIG are getting in on the Remaster craze
man, it feels good when Artemio Urbina gets recognition in other countries
These are getting me through my work day! Great stuff!
Slacker! lol
That first 3 button Genesis controller was a revelation. Gotta give it up.
Mr PL4Ndemic loves videogames.
You guys put so much effort and love into these videos. Thank you
Great video, I grew up with gaming with my first game pad was an Atari 2600. We have really come a long way since then, one only complaint about these series is I want to get these consoles again but what sucks about getting older is having the money to buy them but no time to play them lol. Thanks for these series I always love having these videos playing why I'm at work or when I have my kids around.
i would say man as someone who sounds like we have similar history, is don't consider it a loss if you cannot get the things you remember back. this is how most memories work anyway and if you really needed it you would already have it. so much about gaming as an adult is about time and if you are anything like me, you don't have enough time to play what you can afford to
i've seen this playing in the background of not 1, not 2, but 3 local game shops. To all the compilation haters, just remember that.
Love a good compilation, top 10, or round up!
@@rambo_ando I'm confused here.
@@badtaste311 what about?
@@rambo_ando As to who would dislike a compilation of videos compiled by the creators themselves, opposed to those who have an interest and/or preference to said content and the seemingly contrarian nature in a statement alluding to the aforementioned haters, though it would seem contrarian in itself to make such a statement on a video where said group would most likely not be interested in visiting in the first place. I promise I'm not trying to be mean or rude with this unnecessary comment of mine, I was just honestly confused at first my friend. I wish you the best and most beautiful life one could ever have and take care my brother.
@@badtaste311 you would be surprised
If there's ever a CZcams gaming channel Hall Of Fame (and I hope there will be), you guys should be its 1st inductee. You are true icons for the gaming community.
oh lord, 4 freakin hours of pure pure magic!
freekin' incredible and SO in-depth!!!
Great video! You guys rock!!
5:23 - I've got a real urge to pop in Robowarrior, thanks for using that clip
Sansui made a controller for the NES that is almost identical to the Famicom's controller. It also features a slider switch for the A and B button that allow you to set how fast you want auto fire. It also has a headphone jack at the bottom of the controller for some weird mono output that changes ears depending on which direction your pressing. Overall it is my favorite controller for the NES.
pretty cool man i'll have to look into this. while i don't want any controller that has anything to do with autofire, having those other features seems pretty neat. switching a and b omg lol
For most games the 6 button pad was essentially a 4 or 5 button pad, with one or two of the functions required by the 3 button scheme becoming obsolete in the transition.
Several games simply used XYZ as weapon hotkeys. But not Earthworm Jim which gave you bupkis.
Woke up to this. Twice!
Television Amico best controller ever made
I'm not even gonna lie, I fell asleep while I was watching a Matt KC video and woke up to this. Now I'm a fan.
Now what about propane and propane accessories?
fell asleep and DIDNT wake up to this
Again, what happened to the Atari 7800 in the first hour? That was the number 2 system in the US. Yes Sega was #3 in the US Sales. Sega just had a stronger sales in Europe where there was 10 formats competing mostly microconputers.
I just kinda woke up to this playing, but hey, I'm for it tbh.
Also, I hope I'm as cool as these 2 dudes when I get to their age
Just random started, saw it has 3 Hours, and watched it full lol! Good Work Man!
I'm 40 yrs old and have been gaming since the sega master system and just now learned that gamecube trigger has extra button click at bottom lol
I see something new from MLIG in my subscription box, I immediately stop what I’m doing and watch it.
Unfortunately it was a lazy recycle collection of last year's subpar videos.
Oh yes! Gonna love this
Wow. Great video
You're playing Robo Warrior! One of my favorite NES games and it's a hidden gem as well as underrated. It's a challenging game for sure, but it's fun to play it like a Bomberman clone that has an adventure story to it.
Ah, Robo Warrior. The niche game I had to explain to people because it didn't have Mario in it. Good times.😋
Great vids. You should update the controllers with other consoles bit. Currently using my xboxS/X controller on switch with 8bitdo usb dongle but looking to use 8bitdo on xboxS for fighting games, haven’t found a one yet but hear may flash makes one. Love your channel.
I seriously bought the SEGA joystick JUST for the included Rapid Fire adapter. I would then connect a regular joypad to it. Oddly, I mostly used the rapid fire because I loved playing Monopoly and holding the rapid fire sped up the computer's turns. Also, it was MORE comfortable to play with it in your hands like the Atari joystick and actually move the stick from the bottom instead of the top grip.
The Megadrive 6 button pad is my favourite digital pad with the only thing missing being shoulder buttons, the Saturn pad almost nailed it but the retro bit version did it perfect.
Awesome video man
RoboWarrior on the NES had some pretty good tunes, like the use of it for background music.
I am an avid everdrive collector. Don't get me wrong, I have boxed copies of a majority of the pokemon games and that's incredible, I love playing the original carts, but an everdrive is insanely useful and convenient, especially for someone that doesn't have 10s of thousands of dollars to finish every system collection that they want. Not to mention fan translations, hacks and homebrews, built in cheat engines, it's incredible.
very cool one
To continue on how Analogue consoles slightly slow (or speed) games to play nice with HDMI, do MiSTer cores do the same?
I'm a big binder guy. I house all my games in binders...switch, gba,ds,3ds and gameboy. I even use cd cases for all my generations of xbox. I keep all my cases displayed and just keep my games in binders. Works grt.
I remember "Nintendo Thumb"😫, but back then, THAT was gaming for ya😏.
Just found your channel! nice!
Pure classic 😮😮
Wow what a great job.
Oh man oh man. I have not seen an NES Max since the late 80s. Consider me one of its few fans.
Dude you killed it on this video. Sucks that you havent done more like the flydigi vader 3 or the turtle beach steatlh ultra.
I love this channel
Top 10 most cursed Nintendo moments - Link talked in those Link to the Past FMVs.
I think i am just sticking with the new NES classic controllers.
I got a adapter for the blister and blissbox.
IDK if the Pad in it is just as good.
The other youtuber was saying that the replacement pads they found where not the same and didn't do diagonals as well. Are these better, similar to the originals? Would replacing the classic controllers make a more authentic feel?
Awesome video. what temp to you set your soldering iron to?
I think at the time, it was more common for people in japan to have their consoles out in the living room on the table or even on the floor. The controller wires were short, however the other console cables were much longer.
A 4 hours vídeo? I'm in XD. Cheers from Chile
Yes! I am not a fan of the dogbone either! I think the angle should be the other way and, as you said, the buttons should be closer. It’s so close to be the best NES pad, but just falls short.
pretty wild n wacky
The Dreamcast joystick was awesome.
For the NES Max controller, you are supposed to press on the ring, you don't use the thumb placement for pressing buttons, that is just for thumb stabilization and positioning.
Love these videos! So informative and of great quality.
I have a PC Engine Duo with most of the great fighting titles, 2-six button stock controllers, 2-six button fighter controllers, and one stock NEC controller. I have the multi-tap too.
Sometimes I think I play too much video games, then I come to my senses.
Just fyi, if a controller/product is officially licensed but not made by the owner, then it's a second party controller, you can always tell the difference between 2nd and 3rd party because 2nd party controllers have the owners name on the controller like the first party controllers, like the retro bit sega controllers which are 2nd party, if doesn't have the logo/owner name on it, then it's 3rd party
Nintendo invented the D-Pad, that is not up for debate
AWESOME ALEX IN MIRACLE WORLD SHIRT.👍
Better off buying new contact pads for old controllers. Cheaper and just as effective even if you need to replace them more often than original pads. What's great about 2D gen console controllers is there really aren't any "mechanical" points of failure to be had like you have with new gens with triggers and sticks etc. They really can last forever with occasional pad changes to keep them fresh.
The wireless Retro-Bit Genesis controller has a weird bug with the Mega SG, in that it seemingly randomly accesses the console's system menu. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
I wonder if you can install a sanwa arcade joystick in the genesis arcade stick, the plug and the screw posts look the same
Understandable, have a nice day.
U gotta get your hands on the Famicom with the pre recalled square buttons
Is that EFFIN BIONIC COMMANDO!!! Emulator time!
58:28 you should show the input lag in the comparisons too
I'm a NES controller fan, NES Advantage fan, NES Max fan, NES dogbone controller fan, SNES controller fan, N64 controller, PS controller, and the Nintendo GameCube controller fan. Love them all!
Perfect for a flight
"Bury me with my money!" LOL
The solution to the NES squareness on the controller was to put a piece of electrical tape on each top corner just to make it softer on the finger lol, than just add more lairs to make it rounder to your custom thickness. Didnt really need to buy anything. Same with SMS. I MUST SAY! Since you mentioned ROMDUMPS that are BAD, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE REDUMP SOULBLADE FOR PS1 THE CURRENT DUMP WONT RUN STORY MODE/Edgemaster mode PROPERLY OR SPECIAL WEAPONS PROPERLY AT ALL ON ANY EMULATOR!!!!!!! Both available dumps are broken in this sense ive tried forever to get it to run. If you can find a dump that can actually fully complete the game without glitching and freezing, ive never found it. If you boot it up and try arcade it will seem to work but the weapon mode doesnt.
The engraved Snes controllers are no diff, I got one off eBay used and it felt the exact same as my old version Snes controller. Mushy dpad from decades of use
The Turbo Graphic 16 is a great system. The Turbo had a lot of really good space shooters. Sega Dreamcast is my favorite and the Turbo is in my top 5 systems probably my 5th favorite

Of course i knew about it!! The last time i replayed Metroid Fusion, i played it entirely in tv mode via gba player using my gba as controller 😏
The best channels do not beg for likes. Glad you do not. You guys are solid. Keep it that way.
I remember the dual shock ps1 controller. Never got it because there really wasn't any good games that required it. I guess you can play crash bandicoot on it, but those games work just fine with dpad since they are basically 2D games with polygons . You're locked in either a horizontal platform stage or vertical runner stage. Maybe you could use it on Blasto. LOL
Very good insight. I myself always prefer the original NES controllers overall as well. So many years of using that basic rectangle block controller that nothing feels the same. Same goes for the PlayStation controller. My brain just feels at ease when I’m using a PS controller vs Switch/Xbox. Don’t get me wrong I do love the Xbox controller especially their trigger layout but nothing has a feel like the PS controller and same goes from that Original NES pad
Didn't Sega have a 2nd Genesis joystick that offered six button? Does anyone know if that had the same problems as their three button joystick?
Best damn channel on the internet!
Nice to see Call Me Carlson
Nes pad - best 8 bit
Snes - Best 16 Bit
Xbox - 360 Best overall
Theres another 6button 1st party genesis controller that's shaped similar to the big 3 button controller, they have blue start buttons. I have 2 of them.
Nail polish display is genius for gameboy games
game sack just throwing whole feature length films on youtube
3:13:46 Why does the Mission stick have a 9 pin controller port on it?
You do/have a review for Crossover Gaming Adapters
32:25: I suck, the NEC Turbo, I wish you guys would put the names of the games hovering over the game play windows around this time mark. I don't know either of the games from just the game play. Wonderful stuff, you guys make it more worth while.
I've never heard of an N64 controller getting stick drift, I wonder why?
Nintendo build quality in '80s to mid '90s was like military-grade equipment lol. An original Gameboy literally survived a bombing run during the Gulf War. Somehow, Nintendo could defy the laws of thermodynamics and made plastic as hard as titanium.
and now they make joycons that break through everyday use, don't address the issue, and keep on keeping on
@@foreignuser_ Yep. They don't even break through extensive use they are just broken straight out the factory. Then when you happen to get an alright pair another issue rolls up like a noisy spring.
