Zacharo | A paradise on earth in the Prefecture of Ileias
About twenty minutes from Ancient Olympia and almost 30 minutes from the capital of the prefecture of Ilia, the beach of Zacharos is an endless stretch of sand with the crystal waters of the Ionian Sea embracing it.
One of the longest beaches in the country, wide and with golden fine sand, it has also been recognized through the Blue Flag institution both for the quality of its waters and for its environmental adequacy.
Ideal for water sports, suitable for windsurfing, with perfect and complete infrastructure and facilities for recreation and support for bathers, it is a holiday reference point.
Due to its huge size, it is also suitable for those looking for a more isolated and more natural stay at the sea, as much of it remains unorganized, while the sand dunes that stretch out in places and the wonderful coastal pine forest that accompanies it right behind it compose an impressive scenery and an exotic landscape.
It is noteworthy that both the dunes and the coastal forest have been established as Natura 2000 areas, hosting an important ecosystem with rich flora and fauna.
On the endless coastline that stretches across the Kyparissia Gulf, every beach is unique. Bishinokampos, Kakovatos, Tholo, Giannitsochori. Beaches reminiscent of a tropical island.
At the same time, the city of Zacharos is also the capital of the municipality of the same name, with an excellent market, services and many different restaurants.
