Known as the “Queen of the Dolomites”, Cortina dAmpezzo is in the heart of the Dolomites in Italy and an ideal home base for hiking, climbing, mountain biking in summer, and skiing in winter. Cortina d’Ampezzo hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 1956 and will host it again in 2026. I stayed there before and after my long-distance trek “Alta Via 1” through the Dolomites and enjoyed strolling along the cobblestone streets.
