    I've had the Ruby for a while now and recently got the Dream. I run them into the Walrus Audio Canvas but the Canvas does not have any phase inverting capabilities. Our console at church can flip the phase, but my interface at home can not. So I bought an XLR extension and opened it up and swapped the 1 & 2 wires on one end of the XLR... so the phase/polarity is flipped for the price of a cup of coffee.
    The downside I was still having is that my Bigsky is after the Ruby and Dream and still being fed an out of phase signal. I loved how it sounded there with just the Ruby, but it's quite noticeable the wetter the reverb gets. I'm going to move the Ruby & Dream to the end of the chain like you've done in this video. I reached out to UA about a firmware option in the app to flip the polarity, but I know they're not really known for acting on customer suggestions. It is what it is.

  • @97guitarzan
    @97guitarzan Před 2 lety +3

    The amps already have some drive/distortion going and then you're running more driven tones into reverbs/delays that then all goes into the front of those amp pedals..For me I wouldn't expect that to sound great. I would set the amp pedals the way you like, run drive or distortion into front of them but then run delay, reverbs, modualtions after the UA amp pedals.

    • @97guitarzan
      @97guitarzan Před 2 lety +1

      Ya all the time... have tube amps... Often when recording I use drive gain pedals into front of amp and then do reverbs, delays in DAW. When gigging I use effects loop in amp for delay/reverb and run gain/drive pedals into front of amp. One of my amps doesn't have effects loop and everything goes in front. With these pedal amps it's so easy to run those spacial effects after I don't know why you would want to run everything in front ....thats just me, but I'm sure many would agree. @@timremy9552

    • @countstoneula
      @countstoneula Před rokem

      If you do it this way all your stereo effects will be fed an out of phase signal. I know it sounds like it would be awesome, but because the two amps are out of phase it is terrible. The reverb in particular sounds so hollow because the phase is being corrected after it.

    When you have a stereo rig like this with two different sounding pedals panned hard left and hard right it sounds absolutely great in headphones, etc, but in the context of a live mix in church wouldn’t it not work because half the room on your right side would only hear one amp model while the other half would only be hearing what’s coming out the left? How do you solve this so everybody is getting the same core amp sound while still preserving your stereo signal?

    Call me crazy… but I don’t love these UA pedals. I was so psyched to get the Dream, totally convinced it would change my life… and I just simply didn’t love it. That said, I thought it had incredible clean tones and a very responsive, amp-like feel. But once I started running drives into it, I just felt like it always had this top-end sizzle that I couldn’t control. I think there’s a reason the Iridium sounds maybe a little less “articulate”: I think they probably felt like the eq roll-off helps make it feel less digital. The Dream just had this interesting juxtaposition of very natural/responsive, while also having this digital “bite” that I just felt I couldn’t tame. Maybe I’ll give it another shot down the road, but for now I returned it and am using amps in the HX Stomp.

I do recall flipping the Ruby to the TB setting and it didn't sound good, I was able to get the core tone out of the normal channels. Can the pedals do more presets? Presets are a bit different on this pedal than most. You only have access to one preset on the pedal itself.
      But in the app you can access as many as you’d like (both artist presets and the ones you save). You just have to ‘load’ whatever preset you want to the pedal and then that’s the one that is available.

      Ya know, there’s a way to say things without coming off as rude man. This video took a lot of effort. Here’s something to consider, before you comment on your keyboard, ask yourself would I say this to this persons face and if I would, would it come across as rude potentially. Be cool man.

      @@LukeHuchMusic I am blaming the pedals. Not the producer or star of the show.

      They get paid for doing this so if it sucks, it sucks. They’re making money, anyway 😅
