    I've seen that so many times playing online tourneys... Chipleader can easily raise with a 78 suited, then when he flops two pair, trips or a straight, nobody will believe him, because they put him on AK, KQ, KJ, and other combinations of high cards...
    So if Chipleader's opponent hit a pair, him or her might go all in...
    This is why you should open-raise preflop with a wide range if you have enough chips

    Hey Alec, thank you for the review!
    I might would have opted for a re-raise on the flop (or even preflop) because it would have given us more information to narrow down the opponents range. I might be wrong, but I have the impression that we have folded the best hand here, though its hard to say since we have no read on the opponent. Anyways, your ideas and thoughts about this hand are very helpful, as usual.

    there are so many ways to think this one through, with these stack sizes however, i don't really see any huge advantage with any of the particular lines you can take.... the only way to play it with any edge IMO is by being at the table and like Alec said playing on feel for what your opponent is doing... or simply folding. I used to multitable 9 player turbo sit n goes with these similar starting shorter stacks and playing AQ in early position like this had very little benefits.

  • @dihillen
    @dihillen Před 6 lety +2

    Hi alec...why is limping AQ preflop terrible if you consider there are multiple reshove stacks behind?!
    Other thing to consider is that the chipleader could really loosen up his "stealing range" to perhaps Q10s/QJs/QJoff/KQs/KQoff and keep firing flop and turn/riv while thinking hero would reraise a top p top kicker on the turn!
    What are your thoughts on this?thxs😎

    • @JonasTStefansson
      @JonasTStefansson Před 6 lety

      It's terrible because you don't want to give people the opportunity to force you out of the hand by limp/folding, it enables them to do so with a pretty wide range where you're forced to fold. It's also terrible because you don't want to play the hand multi-way and you don't have the UTG's opening range well defined which makes later decisions more of a guessing game.

  • @AnthonyVickersSoulJahTYah

    3 bet pre-flop defo and raise his flop bet for info if re-raised/shove fold .. if flat called ...fold if he bets turn

  • @joshuajutz6747
    @joshuajutz6747 Před 7 lety +1

    I think a min raise on the flop is the best move. Then if he moves all in I think you throw your hand away and give him credit for kings or aces or maybe even a set. It would be hard for him to push all in here if he doesn't have Top pair top kicker beat

  • @seviren

  • @jeffg6900
    @jeffg6900 Před 5 lety +1

    I disagree on the line taken. I would have preferred with a raise pre or a fold. When the flop comes out Q high, the player must plan the rest of the hand. Your plan needs to include a triple barrel by the big stack. I either fold on the turn or shove. If you fold you have enough chips to still qualify. If you had raised pre and been three bet, you could have laid down the hand and committed less chips.

      +Tipsy Vin Diesel I'd have folded preflop as well. AQ isn't a hand I'd be comfortable risking tournament life for and there are too many people acting behind to play. But given what happened, definitely call the flop and shove the turn is what I'd have done intuitively.

    • @gregorysears1497
      @gregorysears1497 Před 9 lety

      Tipsy Vin Diesel Yea i like folding preflop as AQ is behind alot of utg ranges. I am not 3 betting this preflop as i feel i am usually looking for lower variance spots towards the end of a tournament or Satellite. Also i hate Flatting as other players will more then likely call preflop making the pot bloated. And being out of position sucks for the remainder of the hand. As played I Do agree with Alec here. I think i am Jamming the Turn. If he played KK sneaky then so be it. I really don't think he has a Flush Draw here. I almost feel he has Something like JJ or lower or maybe KQ. His hand has value but he is 4 handed. Also the Turn card shouldn't of hit his range here unless he is bad and has A7 suited. Since it isn't a tournament we are happy to get the chips here as there is not point in Accumulating all the chips. We just want enough to win a seat. Also i would imagine if he had something like KK or QQ (happens but rare) i imagine he reraises us preflop?
      Hope that helps AKA VIllageidiot1

  • @jonathancg2161
    @jonathancg2161 Před 9 lety +1

    I think that live players are not going to be semi-bluffing the turn because the board is paired. I think that if they have a flush draw, they're gonna most likely check/call the turn. I think that live players are not good enough to make bluffs, especially if they're chip leader. I think it should be a call on the flop, but a fold on the turn considering that because his range is only QQ+.
    Am I wrong? +Alec Torelli

  • @ricardoalfonso8097
    @ricardoalfonso8097 Před 5 lety

    Maybe you all know this, but I felt like sharing it:
    Almost all the players stick to an Ace. It doesn't matter if it is A-7, A-10 or A-2, they will play that hand. So if you have pocket Queens, pocket Jacks or even pocket Kings you should consider to fold if there is an Ace on the board.
    If I have 79 offsuit and the flop comes J92(rainbow), I can easily call a raise (if heads up, of course),
    But if I have 9J offsuit and the flop comes JA3(rainbow) I can easily fold to a raise... Because I know Aces don't go anywhere. We are 9 players... What is it the odds for one of the 9 players to be dealt an Ace?

    • @ricardoalfonso8097
      @ricardoalfonso8097 Před 5 lety

      On the 79 and the 9J offsuit examples , when I said "if heads up", I meant if the other 7 players folded. So I mean a full ring, but going heads up to the flop.

      @ricardoalfonso8097 Před 5 lety

      Lol, I don't speak english well, but I just love playin poker

    • @ricardoalfonso8097
      @ricardoalfonso8097 Před 5 lety

      I also play any Ace, but I have a plan when I do...
      Since I know that it is very likely that another player will have an Ace, I always take note of my kicker... If I flop an Ace, but I have a very low kicker and the other player bets big, I will immediately fold. But if he or she bets very cheap, I can stay to see if I can hit my second pair.
      If I have a nice kicker, I can re-raise them moth*fuc*rs 😂...
      *But all of this only applies to a dry board, of course.

  • @dclordknight
    @dclordknight Před 9 lety

    Alec, the river came another *heart* and we're assuming he hit a flush. If his hands were strong why couldn't we assume he had pocket Queens? Is it the size of the preflop bet that he's representing?

    I disagree with Alec.Going all in on the turn is volitle.not a cash game its a sat tournament.Where are u in the tournament? How many orbits you got? Did you cross the minimum chips out of total chips to get a seat? Are the chips distributed equally or else? Fold depending on these questions.

    He said the person was playing in a satellite trying to win a seat... you just need to make the top 10-20% of the field which is why playing a different style is what this was about. If it was for money then yes the hand would be played different. But with 26k left behind he still might be in the top 30-40% of the field and just need a small hand to get his chips back. Satellites I agree are a entire different type of play.

    all in or fold on turn if he has AA Or KK then you will feel like a dumbass for not folding pre .
