This is like how all Pirate movies go, you get abducted into a pirate crew, the crew wants to kill you but the captain intervenes and seems wise and fair so you develop some respect for them but then they show their true colors and betray you.
I actually remember doing a pirate thing on one server and I found the alpha tribe who thought they could use me, so I laid my ground rules on what it means to be a pirate. 1. Follow the Captain's orders 2. Take everything from anyone who tries being your enemy 3. Don't take from your crew The alpha tribe said they would like to follow these rules, so I asked who the captain was and they said they didn't want to have a captain (first red flag) then they complained about being insided in the past so they stripped most of what I'm allowed to do (second red flag) then they started taking my stuff and when we got raided they said they would rather make an alliance. So one day I was on before them and their door was open, so I snuck in and took everything from their fabricator and stored it at the bottom of the ocean where they wouldn't find it while also having emergency black mail so I could blame my friend who is really good at hiding and get closer. Fast forward two weeks and my pirate friends have rocket launchers and C4 and we blow the base sky high before getting board of the server. The next day they tell me I'm caged and their never playing ark again, and that's how I made an alpha tribe rage quit by being a pirate.
You didn't reinforce your alliances and show deference to your superiors. See Blue Shield protected you and brought you into the fold. You only had the opportunity to get that kill at the sacrifice of a breeding pair of pteras and because you were brought into the tribe. Then suddenly you're walking around sporting a nicer shield than his. Now what you should have done was paint that metal shield blue and give it to him. That would have cemented the alliance between you two, garnered respect and elevated your status.
