      That can’t be, cease and desist is only for illegal activity, typically for copyright and trademark infringement, in this case you can’t trademark “Yoga” lol, I think the competing gym that offered yoga got intimidated by a letter that had no merit sent by a “lawyer” and stopped offering it, this is what happens when the letter recipient doesn’t know their rights. @LivingInPhiladelphiaPA is that vitamin shop commercial space still available? I have a Yoga studio idea 😂

    Crazy how different Fishtown has become. It used to be a complete wasteland, now it's hipster land.

    • @yvonneplant9434
      @yvonneplant9434 Před rokem +2

      I think it happened because Fishtown is kinda just near of N. Liberties which, itself, is just north of Old City. The latter totally changed over the last 10-15 years.

    • @SlowDaddie
      @SlowDaddie Před rokem +10

      That tends to be a trend in a lot of cities. Young artists/creative types don't have a lot of income so they start gathering in lower-income areas. Then, they start opening up little restraunts, coffee shops, barcades, yoga, etc... which then start attracting slightly wealthier people who want to live in the cool hipster area. That begins to drive up interest in the area, more opportunities, improved infrastructure and beautification projects. Ironically, the ones who began that process (the artsy creative people) can no longer afford to live there so they end up migrating to the next low-income area and the cycle repeats itself. This is why creative/artsy types are healthy for a big city to have.

    I didn’t think there was ever any possibility of the old PNB building being a condo because that’s a Frank Furness building and on the national register. I lived in Fishtown from 1962-86. I went to that bank often with my mom and it influenced my love of Furness architecture. Fishtown’s limits were on the east side of Frankford Avenue and there were only warehouses, etc. on that street. The Girard Station was NEVER considered Fishtown - let alone the Broad Street subway. Btw - even in the 60s-90s, folks from Fishtown NEVER said they were from Kensington, because the area of the official neighborhood of Kensington that lay beyond Fishtown was always considered undesirable. So, it’s funny to hear anyone call Fishtown (the name given it by Charles Dickens) “Kensingtown.”
