    *Note - So in the actual game the boss WILL throw you around and such. Because I used the new mechanic (only resolving one counterattack) with the old cards, I prevented these more cinematic moments from occurring. The new counterattack cards will have them do things like pick you up and throw you immediately.*

    Excited about the game, but do have a wishlist after watching this video:
    - Player boards need dual-layer, otherwise these cubes will probably be slipping around
    - I know its WIP, but I strongly hope the cards have varied art. The player skill cards looked a bit boring, which is probably a combination of faded colors and repeat art.
    - The board itself deserves more art - Take a look at Oathsworn board and how every single hex is unique. They should do something similar here - add broken vases, cracked floor, a few bones here and there. In other words, make the board more interesting so I can feel my heroes are in a real place instead of an excel spreadsheet.
    - Would love if the minis were slightly bigger, both on heroes and boss.

    Great playthrough Mike! I was already hyped for this (basically an instant back) but you've added to that in a more concrete way. Especially the update that they will be adding an arena mode during the campaign for one-shot/boss rush modes.
    For my taste, I hope we see more games take inspiration for Oathsworn (and now Dante), vs KDM or ATO. Tighter campaign, with less faff, and the ability to easily do one-shots or "quick story".

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I love things about ATO and KDM, but I agree these kind of things are easier to table and more focused in some ways

      @@OneStopCoopShop For sure. I don't think they are bad games and there is definitely room for both "styles" in the hobby.
      While I'm not really pulled in by some of the other elements (civ-building in KDM or exploration in ATO), it's really the scope that keeps me away.
      I also really like the clear "start and stop" points of Oathsworn and Dante. Even if they were longer campaigns, it still makes them more manageable (imo, of course! :D)

      Totally agree on the scope piece, but honestly because I'm very much enthralled by both KDM and ATO and cannot justify any more such titles haha. Also thoroughly enjoy Oathsworne and would be picking up Dante had I the budget and room on the shelf. Thanks for the fab video Mike!

    Solid voice acting, Mike! Love it!
    Can't say I love boss battlers to be honest. You know me, I find combat often not the most interesting aspect in games, preferring the worldbuilding and exploration more. Fighting the same bosses over and over just seems senseless to me and not fun. Besides, the locations of these battles are always in these abstract arenas devoid of style or specificity. Still, I love a solid story campaign I can keep progressing in and discover new content from and Dante promises just that and I'm so happy to have won a pledge so I can try it out!

    @BRS_F51 Před 7 měsíci +2

    I like the look of the player boards and card art. I hope the tracks on the board become recessed so the cubes are easily moved around. The vigor could be a 12 sided die instead of the track, but I like tracks as long as the values stay put and it's not crowding the board.

      I’m the opposite…I prefer the camp phase over the battle phase. Same for KDM, Settlements Phase is my favorite part of the game.
      If anything kills this game for me, it will be battle phase outstaying its welcome.

      @@OneStopCoopShop yeah I don’t mind the upkeep stuff , the rp stuff but if the combat isn’t interesting then all the upkeep and rp isn’t going to save the game for me. That being said from what I’ve seen thus far the combat looks good and I am looking forward to the ks launch in feb.

    The big cinematic feel of the full character card play reminds me a lot of Street Masters (in a good way).

    Companions could have archetype cards like Oathsworn where you can select from pre-defined sets of abilities. Maybe they have a core ability, and the other 2 come from a cards with pair abilities. But I already like this (and other recent games like Oathsworn) better than KDM which got fairly repetitive with the Hunt/Boss phases usually against the same Boss over and over. (I only have the core KDM 1.6 game)

  • @teifan6674
    @teifan6674 Před 9 dny +1

    The rule about the fumbles still seems off to me. If the number that triggers a reaction is fixed at 2, mathematically it means that every big attack with a lot of dice will trigger one. Which doesn't really convey your characters failing as much as them overextending/the malefactor reacting to great amounts damage. Which maybe is the intention - if it is, the name is a bit off. If the point is that you should *not* go all in for damage unless you are prepared to be immediately attacked back, the game does not really convey this yet.

    • @OneStopCoopShop

    Game looks real cool, but 3D terrain is... off-putting to me. Generally means more boxes for storage and at least some form of obstacle with getting the game set up.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 7 měsíci +3

      What they did in the prototype (maybe this will also be in the final version) was they used the big level blocks, which are hollow, as storage for tokens and minis and such. But yes, still a lot to manage 😅

    Does it have any Truvang Legends vibes with some areas needing more work? I just have a couple games I backed which I didn't think were needing as much work. Dungeons of Infinity: Kingdom Cost has drug on when I backed thought they were just updating some art and components. Still hasn't delivered...

      Oh this isn’t ANYTHING like trudvang. They are still actively developing and balancing the game, but the core system is already a lot of fun. Trudvang had to be basically redesigned from the ground up, if I remember correctly, and even then the final product is, in my opinion, deeply flawed

    Maybe a Cover Card could fix the Problem with the prediction about the enemy Turn?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 7 měsíci +2

      I’m not seeing it as a “problem”. I like being able to cleverly adapt to what the boss is going to do and mitigate the damage. I just think they need to balance cards that are too easy to work to your advantage when you see them coming.
      But sure, a cover card would work if you wanted fully surprising activation 😅

      @@OneStopCoopShop This. I think the card being open is a big plus. The game seems difficult enough as it is. Given how hard they can hit you, that level of randomness will probably lead to many feel bad moments.

    How's the queue of taking actions determined? Is there some iniciative system or it just randomed whoever want takes the 1st turn ?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Currently it’s an open system. Player A might take an action, then C jumps in, then it’s back to Player A for another action or two, but then B wants to do something. It could be chaotic, but it also gives fun combo possibilities

    • @OneStopCoopShop

      Hard to judge fully, without playing more scenarios. I like the variety of cards for players here more than the more basic actions in TT, but TT might have more variety in terrain effects
