  • Lite Brite Won't Shut Off - Troubleshooting and Easy Fix.
If your Lite Brite won't turn off this video may show you how to easily fix it. Excess solder flux on the circuit board causes a high resistance short which is the root of the problem. Cleaning the circuit board with alcohol will remove the flux and solve the problem.

Thanks for this fix! My wouldn’t turn on. After checking all the connections I tried your rubbing alcohol solution and it worked! Appreciate you.

Zomg, we just stayed up till 5 in the morning trying to design a menorah for my partner, Jacob, using the tiny amount of pegs that came with our Lite Brite Magic Screen. After going through it all and getting it just right, we found that the light would not stay on!
So, we have the opposite problem that you have. What we've decided to do is to use a lightbox that I have and set the Lite-Brite screen on top of it (with some black paper around the edges).
The light box will stay on indefinitely, and so we can have the menorah for the holidays. I thought I would die when we finally got it done and then discovered that the light wouldn't stay on!

I was wondering if you had any thoughts on how to keep it on LONGER? Mine turns off after 5 mins but i would like it to stay on until I press the power button again. Any help would be great! thanks

You'd probably have to change components in the circuit to change the on time of the light. In simple devices like this there may be an RC network that sets the time. If they got fancy and used a microprocessor then you'd probably have to change the firmware. You might be able to hack it by adding a switch that connects power directly to the traces that connect to the LED anodes but that's a bit of work and probably not worth it.

Cool setup for the pegs! So i see you used blue pegs for the 7, green pegs for the 4, and white pegs for the 1. One of my favorite numbers is 741 BTW.
