Scott, Thank you for the great instructions. I was able to put the wind deflector on virtually by myself. I did have hubby help a little to strip the wires and turn the screws while I held the wire in place. Only comment I have is, the instructions say to allow the bracket to cure for 72 hours before attaching the wind restrictor. Of course, I did not see that until I had it attached. Otherwise, your instructions are great and easy to follow.

      Hello,
Thank you for watching and I am glad you got it done.
I was told that they were going to remove that note from the instructions because the stick tape is much improved now.
I have installed piles of them exactly how I did it in my video.
I am sure your install will be just fine.
      Again that's for watching.

Hi Scott. I bought my first corvette this week (2014 Stingray coupe with the Z51 3LT package - sweeeet!) and I guess like any newbie I've spent far too many hours watching videos and searching for accessories to add. Of all the videos I've watched, yours seem to be the most informative and your channel is the only one I've subscribed to. Ever. And I'm 61 years old. Anyway, I am likely to purchase a WindRestrictor but I'm probably not going to get it illuminated. I only have one question. Does it restrict the view out of the rear window at all, particularly if I get it etched? As you know, there is little visibility as it is and this is the main reason I'll not get the illumination. Thanks and keep these quality videos coming.

    • @THECORVETTECHANNEL

      Hi Karl,
Thank you for your question. It is a great question! I apologize for not answering sooner, but we were in Oregon at The Southern Oregon Corvette Weekend.
I posted a picture in the Community section of our CZcams Channel showing mine.
I have a lot of stuff on mine not just the one emblem, and I had to adjust my mirror a little, but I have full view out the mirror I can see everything thru the area above the CORVETTE lettering.
I understand the importance of being able to see out the window and I would not tell you a story. You can see just fine!
One other thing you mentioned not getting the illumination. I love mine the way it lights up and the remote allows you to shut it off if you dont want it on. But they look awesome going down the road and especially at a car show. You can turn it to almost any color with the multi color LED kit and you can also get a rechargeable battery pack that you can run it off of at a car show so you dont have to worry about killing your battery having on for hours with the car off.
If you have any other questions please let me know and thank you so much for the awesome comments!!

Cool product. Quick question...If you choose to hard-wire the lighted version as described, can you turn on the illumination while parked at a show with the car off or do you need to hit the start button in order to light it up? Same question as to when the car is turned on and you're driving. Can you also turn it off for example when you're driving during a sunny day and don't need or want the lighted illumination. Does the remote control provide that option, or would you need to install the optional battery pack instead of hard-wiring it into your car? Also, can you remove it if it is the hard-wired version without disconnecting the wiring to the fuse box and battery? Meaning, can you remove the restrictor from the light bar at the top?

    • @THECORVETTECHANNEL
      @THECORVETTECHANNEL  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Allen,
      Great Questions.
Let me try to answer you.
My unit was hard wired in the video, but later I added a quick change harness that allows you to use the Rechargeable 12 volt battery pack that you have to buy at an additional charge.
With having it just hard wired in you would have to turn on the Key to get power to the WindRestrictor unless you picked a different fuse to get power from.
With it hard wired in and the car is running and you dont need the WindRestrictor on, you can use the Remote to shut it off.
As far as removing the WindRestrictor, I am not sure why you would want to do that. But yes the light bar is only attached by a couple of allen screws. So you could take it of the Restrictor itself and still keep the wiring in tack.
      Hopefully this answers your questions,
      Scott

@@THECORVETTECHANNEL Thanks. So with your quick change harness, where do you place the rechargeable battery pack in the car? I also watched your convertible installation video and the tonneau cover allows you to mount and hide the battery pack. Not sure where to route the wires and hide the battery pack in the coupe. Behind passenger seat?

@@allenharmsen6915 HI Allen there is a Styrofoam cover that sits above the battery. I cut a hole in the Styrofoam that allows the battery to fit in flush in the cover. Hope that helps.

@@THECORVETTECHANNEL Great thanks. So you maintained your original power wire routing along the trim and just installed the restrictor battery pack in the cutout above the car battery cover. Nice idea. I also wonder if connecting it to Fuse #22 (Rear Accessory Power Outlet) instead of Fuse #37 (Front Accessory Power Outlet) would allow the unit to be turned on by the remote without the car running since the rear accessory power outlet is used for the battery tender. Not sure if that makes any difference since the battery tender is plugged into an external power outlet. Just trying to figure out the best option to have it hot wired to turn on/off with the remote without starting the car.

Also, the only accessory you've shown is just the "color changing illumination w/remote" right? Those are in my cart but before I blow $450 bucks, I want to make sure everything is OK. Do I need any optional wiring accessories? I plan to install it the same way shown in your video.

      @@hisokaspider4882 Hello,
Yes I installed the unit exactly as it comes from the factory. I did not use any additional wiring. The only thing I added that was not included was the connector that I used to connect to the negative battery cable.
One other thing that you may want to get is the portable rechargeable battery that way you can turn it on at night or indoors for hours without running the engine or draining the car battery.
I just got mine and I will be making a video on how to install it. But unless you will be indoors or at night with the motor off for a long period you will not need it. I decided to get one because I go to multiple indoor car shows.
If you have any other questions please let me know. I will be happy to help!

I was planning on installing my restrictor today but when I was unpacking and setting things up yesterday I noticed that I was missing the wiring that connects the power line to the fuse box/negative post. That sucks...waiting on "WindRestrictors" to reply my email, so instead of just placing the restrictor with no wiring in my car I felt watching the parades (DC) on CZcams was an excellent fallback.
