She always dressed in black, never verbally addressed the audience, and just sang - and only sang - whether headlining in a concert hall or working her vocal magic on the street, as she had in her youth. You did this song, her song, real justice. I think she would be very pleased.

I am 70 years old and grew up listening to this song playing on the tube radio in my cradle. But I can't help but feel the symbolic significance of an English maiden singing this song in English. I can't help but feel that she is attempting a quiet challenge, a dignity opposite that of Edith Piaf.

Lucy could sing the phone directory and make it sound amazing. This young lady's name should be gracing the billboards. I think it is criminal that she is so under rated and people are missing out on one of the best female voices to come out of the UK in recent years. The music industry is just so full of politics. I stumbled across her channel by accident a few years ago, I'm a grandmother with grandchildren older than Lucy now I'm totally hooked. Listen to her everyday. She makes my heart smile ❤️

The beautiful thing about music is that it’s completely subjective and accountable to only the individual listeners personal preferences, range of exposure, and even prejudices. To characterize the one as “not a patch on” the other is simply shallow criticism of one of two polar opposite renditions. In my opinion Grace Jones takes so many liberties from the original musical arrangement, it is hardly recognizable as the same song. Therefore Jones’ rendition is not comparable to any traditional treatment of the song or the intent of the composer -it is in a class all to itself and “in my opinion” being the best of one is certainly not as notable as being the best of many! I should have included in my comment “in my opinion” but for most commenters, that is understood -so Jones’s version is best for you and Lucy’s is best for me. All the best!

You like Justin Bieber`s voice because you`re into his style of singing which is mostly pop music but his voice is not all that great and he often sounds like the high pitched voices of numerous black singers, so his voice is not unique when compared to really great singers like Barbara Streisand, Engelbert Humperdinck, Elvis, Anne Murray, Karen Carpenter, Johnny Mathis, Jim Croce, Bob Dylan and many other singers who`s voices are truly distinctively unique and do not sound like many other singers do. Justin Bieber`s type of voice is extremely common and cannot be considered a great type of voice by any stretch of the imagination so to say his voice is better than Lucy Thomas`s voice is just your personal opinion because you happen to like his voice but there are millions of people in America & other countries that hate his music and his voice. I do not wish to offend you or any other person who likes Bieber`s voice & his songs for I am just stating the facts of the matter.
