- The rear teak deck is done, mostly!
Teak oil finish on the deck of this vintage wooden classic, a 1956 Chris Craft.
Caulking is done on the board seams, time for the teak oil, a few deck chairs and a couple libations.
The soggy saga of my old liveaboard 1950's 46 foot Chris Craft Constellation wooden boat. Having a fun restoring this old beauty of a boat!

Not many people can say they live aboard a classic 1956 yacht. Had one years ago miss it so much!
Enjoy the fruits of your labor!
🍻 🚢
Coming along nicely.
Thanks, Paul. It is getting there for sure! 👍🍻 have a great Sunday
Just started watching your channel.. Great taste and sense in all you do sir! The boat will be simply beautiful once finished. Tip: LED wire and waterproof 'molten' bulb lighting (AA batteries powered) wound around the diagonal rear wood stairs will softly illuminate the treads at night and light the surrounding area, chairs + table etc.. Cheers Matey 😏
looking great!
Thanks buddy. Getting there. They got some tasty beers out here 🍻👍😁
great job so far, looks super, hell of a job, swear , sweat n beers👍 your Intro arrangement bird vs music building up tension is world class....dadidadidaaa...click, click ....😄😂🤟👍
Haha, thank you my friend 🍻👍🍻👍🍻. Much appreciated. Have a great Sunday!!
Great job Jimmy. Glad to see you starting to enjoy the fruits of labor!
Thanks my friend. It's been a fun project so far. Fingers crossed it doesn't sink 🤣👍🍻
Wow!
Hi Jimmy you were wise to just oil it. It really does look beautiful. Everything looks very homey for you. The minnow bucket was a great idea for a beer cooler. The fireworks were pretty. Your boat will be spectacular when finished. The work you did will be worth it in the end! Well done!❤️
I rather have cold beers than minnows, 🤣! Thank you Nancy👍👍! Have an amazing Sunday 🍻😁🍻😁🍻😁
@@JimmyMeatwhistle most people would rather have those beers!❤️
outstanding transition...well done sir!
Thank you very much!! Have a great Sunday 👍🍻
Wood is such a beautiful material and giving it a natural looking finish is for me the best option. It’s coming along great. Hope you’re well brother cheers 🍻🍻
Thank you, Sam! I agree, natural wood is the way to go 👍🍻. Have a great Sunday buddy
Looks amazing. Great work man 🍻
Thanks, Sheldon 👍! Appreciated
Looks awesome oiled up,far better than that varnish crap 👍
Thanks, much appreciated. I agree with that 100%! 🍻👍 Have an awesome week
She's looking great, I bet you'll be living the high life once you can get to the preferred anchorage. The amount of background noise was surprising.
Thanks mt friend 👍🍻 Yes it definitely a tourist trap. 😳
another great video. Will the boat be put up for winter? looking great bud
Thanks buddy. Winter out here is pretty soft. Average January temperatures are around 50f or 9C, that's t-shirt weather LOL. Not sure when I'll get it out of the water but it has to be done quickly or it starts shrinking and then it will start sinking. Also have to keep the hull hydrated with sprinklers once it's out of water. It's a bit of an event, but I'll definitely keep you posted 👍🍻
There is a lot of room on that deck! Is the deck wood real thirsty and soaking it up to where it may need another quick coat of it again? The before and after is like a night and day difference! WOW! How are you going to seal and protect the outside walls of the cabin? Stay safe and healthy!
It's a great size deck! This teak seems to be so dense it doesn't suck up much. It's taking days for it to drink up that first coat. We'll see how it settles in. Once I get all that varnish off the sides I'll definitely give it the same treatment as the deck. Thanks again buddy and have a great Sunday
The term "putting lipstick on pig" comes to mind LOL,. She's going to take every dime you got and then a lot more.
Tip Top Teak is the best. Also brush in on instead of wiping. An oiled teak deck can increase interior temp of boat. Hope you used sikaflex caulking
Why didn't you sand the deck before oiling it?
I scrubbed the deck thoroughly then oiled it. You don't want to sand the decking because you are removing material. This boat was sanded before (more than once)and its not a good idea. Every time you sand it you are that much closer to replacing ALL of the decking...
The teak need to look old.
All that’s missing is a parrot
