I believe Big was dissing Snoop, but the line wasn't referring to Snoop's 2nd album flopping. How could it have been? The Doggfather was released in November 1996. Life After Death was finished in December 1996. Big died in March 1997. Big had no way of knowing that Snoop's album had flopped/would flop.

Biggie was alive to see Snoop album do numbers for 3 momths and 25 days before he died. Cause February 12th, made 3 months of Tha Dogfather release. Had he lived to see March 12th. That would have been 4 months since Tha Dogfather was release.

Even though “Tha Doggfather” wasn’t a great album, it came out 4 months before Biggie died & it sold a decent amount of copies up front (before people figured out it wasn’t that good). It was Snoop’s first swing & miss, so a lot of people bought it regardless…I doubt Biggie would’ve been clowning Snoop over sales of that album like 4 months later.
Or at most like 2 months later, since life after death was completed by November or December 96. They kept pushing it back because Suge was trying to release Makaveli the same day. That line was probably recorded before Doggfather even dropped, unless Big went back and changed the song
