    Once I saw your breath condensing I wondered how that still run was going to go! Interesting you decided there was no reason to double distill. It sure looked good though...made me want to try that recipe next! Thanks for posting 👍

    Next time you run Brandy shorten your column considerably. It will create how about more flavor in your Brandy.

    hi again ive seen ur video where u use malted barley to convert starches was wondering if i could use barley malt extract instead..?

    • @stillworksandbrewing
      @stillworksandbrewing  Před rokem

      Hi Aaron, you can not use malt extract because it has been cooked and those temps denature the enzymes used for conversion

    Are you packing your column or leaving it empty when running this?

    Hi Randy, From the mash to bottling, how much would you say it cost you per litre to make. That was a lot of berries you used and here in Aussie land even frozen berries are expensive. A bottle of normal vodka here is about $50 AU for a 1 litre bottle. I am sure some viewers like myself would be interested if home distilling saves you money, I am sure it would here since the government tax is high. Doing a hobby you love, is the cost factor important. Would love to hear your views on this topic. Thanks Stephen

    Could you have warmed up the shine and added to sugar to melt it are you don't think that would work

    • @stillworksandbrewing
      @stillworksandbrewing  Před rokem +1

      I dont like warming up the shine plus warming up berry's and sugar to help bring out the berry flavor

    hi, i have just started with a cheap d.i.y distiller i bought by my, u stopped at distilling when i got to about 80 proof.? is there a reason for that..? can u not carry on and use the weaker idtilant to proof it down at the end..? im a beginner i have no idea

    • @stillworksandbrewing
      @stillworksandbrewing  Před rokem

      Hi Aaron I stop at 80 proof and i see it dropping fast I like to stop before i hit tails. the lower the abv the more off taste when i proof down I like to use good clean water that's just the way I do it cheers

    Question, how did you end up with more distillate than you mathed?

    • @stillworksandbrewing
      @stillworksandbrewing  Před 2 lety

      Hi Timothy, the math tell you let's say 2.5 qt. 200 proof ( we can't get that) if I pull off let's say 2.5 qt. 100 proof that would be 50% alcohol and 50% water
