    Brilliant child actor I must say, no matter how disturbing this scene is. Probably the most convincing, terrifying screams from any child in a movie ever. Though, that gypsy woman needs to learn to forgive, damn

      The scream probably was added in post production. Did you know that in many horror movies the actors dub their own scream and sometimes other actors dub the screams? Usually the actors just make the facial expression but the actor is completely silent.

      Zombie Sheep But the only reason he and the girl went to hell is because the old gipsy didn’t get her way and cursed them(the boy stole, but the girl was literally doing her job). There are religions that believe you’re only in hell for as long as you need to be, but the old lady just had to ruin things for everybody.

      @bursegsardaukar Před 4 lety +53

      @@ryanstarwalt490 The girl had a choice but she really wanted the promotion so she decided to deny the old lady the extension just to prove to her boss she can make hard choices. Not to mention she killed her cat in an attempt to save herself...

    • @MegidramonX
      @MegidramonX Před 4 lety +142

      @@bursegsardaukar Gonna say it, the cat is just an animal, and doesn't compare to a human life.
      Also, no human should have the power to damn someone to hell, regardless of what was done towards them. Damning someone to hell is far, far worse than killing a kitten or denying an (undeserved) extension on a Mortgage the old woman was clearly not paying.
      Ultimately, regardless of the child stealing a necklace (which could've been solved amicably by having it returned with an apology, not cursing it), or the woman denying a third extension (which, I'm sorry, is justified given the context), the old woman is the real villain here, and more than likely she herself is already in hell for what she has done to either/or.
      Judgement is ultimately God's territory, and to take that territory as your own is a serious sin. If she didn't repent and seek forgiveness for it (which given how the old woman had been characterized in the movie, would probably scoff at the idea), then most likely she shares a spot in hell with those she damned.
      Though, that's just my way of seeing this. There is very little reference to God in this movie, so most likely He is being ignored in favor of telling a horror story with a downer ending. If this happened IRL, chances are that curse would've been broken the instant the Church Lady prayed for it to be. Heck, the curse probably wouldn't have even worked in the first place irl.

    Just to clarify, the boy himself wasn't cursed on purpose, it just so happened that the necklace he had stolen had already been cursed; hence why the apology was refused and they wouldn't take the necklace back, the curse had passed to the boy and the owners didn't want the curse back. The necklace had already been cursed before he took it. So, it wasn't a scenario where he stole a necklace and the owner cursed him for doing so. The kid just picked the cursed necklace to take, and ended up with the curse in the end as a result.

      @connor Hell is not a place where God sends people. Hell is a place where people walk in themselves it's a case by case situation thus God first looks at the heart then sees the actions to determine his final decision. If your doctor example if he's a good man trying to feed his family in a desperate situation Then may be show compassion for him like he did with the 5000 Jesus fed who were also hungry. True God gives us free will thus it's our choice to accept his son's love and sacrifice or reject his love and mock him instead (you). But Bottom line is, that I 100% agree with you is that this movie as you mentioned is Pure Crap.

    As a rational adult that does believe in the paranormal, this scene literally terrifies me. It was a young child who made a silly mistake and gets dragged to hell itself DESPITE light, blessing spiritual light to SAVE him, he suffers the WORST fate.
    This opening really REALLY set the tone for this FANTASTIC and horrifying film.

    Really sets up how powerful the curse is. To make a child suffer an eternal damnation over a stolen necklace? You'se gotta be one nasty evil old lady 🤢

    That is true though... I never thought of it that way. In both situations, the kid and Christine were drug down after near death situations. The kid was thrown off a balcony and Christine was almost hit the train and right after both of those situations, the demons were able to grab then.

      They weren’t “near death” they were fatal. They died and the parents and pyshic witnessed there afterlife

      Ah so maybe this maybe the boy and Christine were tormented so much that they both committed suicide cause they just wanted the visions to end and in the process you could see their souls being dragged to hell just a theory kind of like judas in the passion he was being tormented that he couldn't live with what he did and there it is again just a theory

    Both this kid and the main character didn’t deserve to be dragged to hell

    I love this movie, but have always had a hard time watching this opening scene, especially since my son was born. The way the kid screams right before he goes under just gets me every time. Truly disturbing.

    you know what would be more messed up? if the fall killed Juan. then his spirit rises and he sees his own corpse and then the demons take him.

      Sam Raimis, with this movie, made me turn into a 1/4 of a Hitler. Ive heard nothing but bad things about Gypsys and movies dont help matters none. After the movie 'Thinner', i was so nervous to be around them, that i broke into a cold sweat and started shaking. After watching this move, I'm too terified of them to even look in the same direction as them.
