With the cap, I got a tip from a local pilot to cut the legs super short, then add soft wire like old motor wire or tiny whoop battery wire. Allows the connection to flex and it can be zipped to a standoff if you want it to be more solid.
Please make a video on flight performance of this build😍
Will do 👍
Awesome Killer build you guys! Happy Holidays 😊
Beautiful build, guys! Really nice! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
You too buddy!! It's a very strange reality atm hey
sweet build!
Nice looking racing spaceship quad, it reminds me a bit of the famous FLOSS from Kabab/Pyrodrone :)
Hope you guys are doing well
At 16:42 you say you could threadlock the nuts on the stack. I never did that because my nuts are plastic and a lot of the common threadlocker eats plastic. Might be something to know for a new builder.
Very nice video by the way, I like the chill vibe.
He probably should have elaborated on that. We actually use hot glue which does pretty much the same thing.
I thought about this build a while ago. Been meaning to try out the Foxeer ESC/FC and thought what better frame to try them in haha. Nice video, i think i know what I'll be building next.
Awesome brother
Liking the clothes pin and technical soldering; I'm thinking I can reduce my tip cross section a bit
Props!
looking forward
A little pricy but the best motors EVER!
Do you know when you’ll be releasing the follow up video to this Thomas? Interested to get into the software side of things.
Plan is to have part 2 out next week and not long after that with part 3. So software setup will happen soon
I have the same soldering station HAKKO, what soldering tip part number are you mostly using here? I can use the objects in the image to get a rough tip size estimate as the HAKKP products are full of technical information...looks like a T-18B conical
Have to say it's very close looking to switchback HD
It's a top plate race frame they all look similar, Same as the XBee and a million other frames.
This tutorial is very professional. I haven’t built any true race drones. Only freestyle and whoops. Was really cool to compare and see how you deal with the confined space of a race frame. It’s not all that different. Do you always stick with one brand for the entire build?
No we don't in fact if you want to have a look at the frame and gear we actually use have a look at this video czcams.com/video/VKSvlbJ_A4s/video.html as this is what we race. This foxeer build video was purely to highlight the foxeer gear if someone wanted to fly with this rig. The JS-1 video I've linked here is basically has gear that's been proven reliable both Nationally and internationally Hope that's of help.
What’s the best drone for me to build as a starter drone flyer
Nice build guys, looks slick. Love the use of the peg and I also learned something in regards to flattening the battery cables with pliers after tinning them! Are you able to point me to where you got those pliers and cutters? They look nice! Look forward to the next lot of videos. 😁🤙 Cheers
Those pliers came from Radio Parts here in Australia but any electronics retailer should have something very similar
@@BMSWEB thanks a bunch, I am in Aus also. Will check them out. Cheers 🤙
Hello, I am a beginner in the middle of the breed. I wanted to know if it was possible to give me your pid, rate and filter settings. I have already ordered all the gear 😎
The next video will have all the settings etc. Video will be shot and uploaded next week.
@@BMSWEB 🙏👍
Is that 96k esc or 128k esc?
Hi, I don't remember off the top of my head but I think it was the 128k version!
-Thomas
Where can I get those double sided sticky pads? Are they Japanese?
It's a Japanese shop we have here in Australia called Daiso
What power driver is that your using
I have no idea what the brand is, when Thomas was last in Korea, one of his female racing team mates gave it to him. We've had a look for them, without much luck. I'll try to find out more information on it
could I use a vista camera in this frame?
Haven't tried it myself, but I believe there is a HD version. Having said that you will need to check the Foxeer Website
That cap wont last long from my experience soldering the cap straight to the lipo pads.
You're probably right, but realistically it's not the main quad he's going to be flying after initial testing it will most likely be giving away. In all honesty it's only going to do around 100 or so flights, so very little use
@@BMSWEB being honest. Ive been lucky if a cap soldered like that lasts a session lol. Reason being is that its hard mounted that way. So it feels every single crash and the thin pins just break. Just a bit of advice thats all. Especially if you're giving it away. Wouldnt want it to cause a short or something. Worse case.
@@BoosiveFPV you do realise we've built a few quads before right 🤣 Edit: But in all seriousness if you're crashing that hard that you're breaking the cap off in the first flight that's pretty sad. Irrespective there are multiple solutions that would work here
@@BMSWEB Yeh ofcourse lol. Doesnt mean that you cant accept some advice though aye. We average pilots, crash. We aren't as consistent as Thomas lol. You've got to take that into consideration.
@@BoosiveFPV Like I said that cap will last 100 flights easily, but as Thomas mentioned it wasn't ideal. The other unique thing you got to see in this video was a complete new build with zero time on that frame, so you got to see the thought process etc We would normally put into building a brand new frame like this. The next step would be to fly it and identify what needs to be improved etc Realistically he won't do many flights with this frame, probably around 100 flights I imagine. After that you'll get more info on how we would set up a frame like this, if it was going to be Thomas' main platform. It's also worth mentioning that he's not planning on moving away from the JS-1
first
Damn you're quick!! I got a comment notification and though 100% a bot 🤣 Hope you're doing well buddy and we can visit you guys in the very near future
@@BMSWEB I was right place right time I think.. yeah would be very cool to see you guys well organise a race or an event for you and dad!
