    Thanks for the awesome video test and setup of the G4 carb. There must be hundreds of people out there that have had either too low or too high rev problems with the 160. I have 9 of these mowers and with out a doubt the best mower money can buy - will give many years of service - should even last a lifetime if looked after correctly. Well done.

    Another great video Drew Thankyou.What a great idea to make up your own apparatus to measure resistance in those springs...really well thought through mate...Long live Victa 2 strokes.Cheers Mate.

    Great video explaining the different springs required for the lm carby. It's such a pity they stuffed up the design and didn't make it simple to adjust running rpm. A spring with adjustable tension or an adjustable vacuum line would be more suitable!
    The mower in the video looks like a late model vsx160. If fitted with 4 blades 2800 rpm is to spec and adequate fit purpose. Running it higher increases noise and you'll go through a tank of fuel much faster!

      @chisel83 Před 9 měsíci

      I’m sure the specs say between 3500-3600 max rpm

    • @markkearns6231
      @markkearns6231 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@chisel83 That's spec for the older power torques before emission regulations came in. Once the regulations came in from about the year 2000 onwards they dropped the rpm. @Varietech-AU (victa expert) might be able to confirm. If anyone really wants to take control of rpm on a power torque then they should do the LM carby mod on outdoorking, as detailed by NormK. This gives total control of rpm at your fingertips and does away with the vac controlled gov hose altogether.

      @@markkearns6231 I had a feeling the rpm was set low due to emission regs. I recently installed a new varietech primer cap and needle set up in my super600. Can you share the link to the thread please I’d certainly like to have a look. Cheers 👍

      Hi Mark, I suspect that you are correct wrt RPM and emissions, however I must say that it runs a lot better with a little more RPM in my humble opinion! Cheers Drew

      Hi Drew, yes I prefer the older power torques that seem to rev harder and idle better. It's also fun to let the neighbours know you are mowing the lawn. Keep the video coming. Thanks

    Hi Drew, I didn't know anything about the letters on the valve or the spring pressures, But I did manage an adjustment with the adjustment screw by the Throttle Lever !
    However the throttle seems out of sync with its specified selector values ?
    So in the idle position it revs up, And the Stop position doesn't work now, But i rigged up a motorcycle kill switch which is Awesome !

    • @DrewFixIt
      @DrewFixIt  Před 7 měsíci

      Hi Sam, by adjusting at the throttle lever I suspect that you have now adjusted such that the CAM inside the Carby cannot now rotate fully to the stop position. Rather you should have adjusted it at the Carby side as per my video! Cheers Drew

    Hi Drew.
    Love your videos mate. 😊
    I have that exact mower. Victa Mustang.
    It runs fine but has serious wheel wobble mainly on the front wheels. Can you suggest an easy repair/fix or should I look at replacing the wheels? If you have time to make a video that would be awesome.
    Cheers.
    Rob

      I haven't had a chance to get to look at the mower yet Drew but it is the exact same mower and wheels on the mower in your video mate.@@DrewFixIt

    Ripper video Drew and very interesting. The mower looks unmolested and original so did the spring lose tension or was it the way it left the factory?

    • @DrewFixIt
      @DrewFixIt  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thanks mate, I suspect that with EPA laws it was lower from the factory, however with age I suspect the spring tension had also decreased giving a double whammy on this one! Cheers Drew

    A blocked muffler will cut max RPMs.

    • @DrewFixIt
      @DrewFixIt  Před 7 měsíci

      Hi Mate, I haven’t seen a blocked VICTA 2 Stroke muffler ever, rather seen plenty that have burnt/blown out all of the internal steel wool and typically I pack in more to quieten them back down rather! Cheers Drew

    • @markheaton5431
      @markheaton5431 Před 5 měsíci

      Yes it will, as will a carbon blocked/restricted exhaust port. Used to be quite common before the use of quality Two Stroke oils became commonplace.

    Thanks for the video. Any chance of sharing where you got the different length springs?

    • @DrewFixIt
      @DrewFixIt  Před 7 měsíci

      Hi Mate, thanks got the different springs from Victa carbs that I have pulled appart over the years. Perhaps I should have filmed another one last weekend where I actually needed a stronger spring but what I had was too strong (actually the strong one from this video) and what I did was cut down to the strong spring until I got the lower to rev where I wanted it too! Cheers Drew
