    From a pop djembe player to another, very refreshing and useful method!

    I really like the full breakdown of the strokes. It gives me something to work on. Doesn't feel like I'm getting enough power from just my fingers to drive the tone

    Great lesson master, thank you, been waiting for video from you! Great skill and techniques, thank you in the name of all djembe players. We all can share what we know so we all grow. Thanks again brother.
    Could you think of a video where you explain how you practice your skills? Not just beats, but the theory and practice of your growth. Thanks for your work.

    I just ran across your videos, thanks for taking the time to explain beats like this🤙 I’ve had a drum for almost 2 years and have just been unable to “figure” it out. You rock!

    Thanks for another great video. I am a pretty new djembe player but I really want to master this finger technique. I am limited because I have a disabled pinkie on my right hand so have to really adapt.

    • @DjembeMaster
      @DjembeMaster  Před 2 lety +3

      Over the years, I’ve had many student with all sorts of disabilities. It’s been fascinating to find solutions. And in your case, luckily, the technique I teach mostly does not involve the pinky so much.
      I’m sure even the right hand flat bass stroke will sound great without the pinky playing a big role 🙂

    How do you get it to sound studio quality? Is it just the mic or is this something done in post production? Great vid!

    Hi Sir how to play fingers roll on djembe,

  • @jlimbo234
    @jlimbo234 Před 2 lety

    I really like the muted sound with the left hand (3 fingers) did you have tips on how to make is sound nice and crisp and very different from the bouncy sound of the other left hand beat?

    • @DjembeMaster
      @DjembeMaster  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks! So far, the only video material where I talk more about the muted slap is the “4 Ways of Slap Strokes with Djembe” CZcams video and in the “Advanced Djembe Masterclass Volume 1” course.
      In short, the fingers gotta be loose and flexible from the knuckles. I keep my wrist up. And stroke had to be quite strong, mostly.

  • @Muri_Moto
    @Muri_Moto Před 2 lety +1

    I am right handed, but I feel more comfortable with the left as the bass. Should I force myself to get with the program?

    • @DjembeMaster
      @DjembeMaster  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey! I've seen this combination before 🙂 Bottom line - if you feel more comfortable hitting the bass with the left hand (also starting rhythms) then play like a lefty.
      As far as the program, the Beginners courses are definitely easy to follow and mirror the exercises - don't listen to what I explain but look at the visual and use the opposite hand to any stroke 😎

    Very nicely done teaching video thank you. Question, is there anyway to get away from the over ring, im a conguero, and the fiber skin heads seem abrasive to me. Thanks.

    • @DjembeMaster
      @DjembeMaster  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hey, thanks. Yes, you can put some tape to the inside of the drumhead. Or use the sticky dot which comes with a Remo djembe (also to the inside of the drumhead).

  • @charleshamilton6511
    @charleshamilton6511 Před 2 lety +1

    I notice that you don’t tilt the drum
    Is this necessary?

    • @DjembeMaster
      @DjembeMaster  Před 2 lety

      I do tilt 🙂 Maybe in some rare instances I don’t (explaining something technical slowly) but 99% of time, it’s tilted.
      More on that in the “2 Ways of Tilting the Djembe” video on this channel 🤓
