    I love art with thin non-weighted lines. It just makes me happy in a way that weighted linework doesn't, for some reason. I started feeling this way after watching Adventure Time, and ever since I have drawn mostly with fineliners, on paper and digitally as well

    Well, the first was also done really quickly for an example. No line weight difference has its place, too, like animation. I can’t imagine having to deal with line weight in a million frames! For no line weight difference, it’s easy to make it look good if you have good control over your lines, and a good brush. No line weight change with the brush itself, but making the brush smaller or bigger for other parts can have a similar effect, as well as taking an eraser and tapering the line edges. It’s all dependent on what you wanna do and what suits you!

    Hmm, 🤔, I mean... I think in part it could be a skill thing, but it depends on what kind of aesthetic of art you are going for. I dont think one is above the other. But you do have to know how to manipulate that type of 1 line thickness aesthetic. Usually, when it comes to organic, various line shape matters versus architectural line work.
    The trick of using that architecture line work on organic, ohhh it can become magical

    Uh, yeah I actually see what you’re saying but I don’t know, I personally have this feeling that both of these ways are acceptable depending on what you want. The first and second results were so completely different to me that I had to rewatch a few times: it felt like those were two similar-looking guys with the same style but the face traits are just not that alike. Hey, maybe I’m dumb and I can’t see that shit even though I drew all my life, it’s just my feeling
    I’d like to talk about the fact that the line of the first one makes it look like a wip that needs colors and all the magical effects you call however you want (yeah sometimes artists just say shadow and light and others like to throw words out of nowhere so sorry if I’m not a "real artist" I’m not interested)
    The second one looks finished, or it could have some details here and there but it just looks like the intention was incorporated in it, if that makes sense, it can stay like that and that’s really cool
    What about other ways? The first method could change everything depending on the "weight" (Sorry it’s a first one to me I never heard that and art schools teach nothing) of the line, it can look horrible for you and others but sometimes people just have their own thing and it can be cool or cute
    Same goes for more variation, it’s not just the existence of it but how is it entirely in every detail. I get that you explained that but… it’s a short. Sorry, it’s not your choice but shorts are terrible for even small advice, sadly you couldn’t go deeper into it but I still feel frustrated
    And for one, these videos (not you I’m talking about artists in general making this type of content) never helped me get better at drawing, and I could explain why but it’s already too long and I’m not even sure that someone is willing to actually listen and not go "yeah they be stupid and lazy" so I’ll wait for an answer first
    If there’s any "didn’t read" clown answer ignore those, really it’s a plague

    • @beginnerdrawingcourse
      @beginnerdrawingcourse  Před 10 měsíci +1

      It depends on brushes, settings, software, and hardware. The simplest thing if you don't have a tablet is to draw with thick lines and erase for finesse/weight. There's also testing brushes until one allows a lot of variety/usage for your natural drawing style and feel-- that's more for if you do have a tablet w/ pressure sensitivity though.

    @frmmas298 Před rokem +1

    I know this is digital artwork, but if I were to be drawing on paper, should I just buy more markers with a different grade?
    I've seen a few artists that make some lines thicker with the same marker by going over them again, but some others have more than one. Do you know which approach is better for a beginner?

    • @beginnerdrawingcourse
      @beginnerdrawingcourse  Před rokem +1

      It takes experimentation. Some are better with using various fine liners and tracing their sketch using a light box. Others are more comfortable just re-doing the work with a mechanical pencil until it had the effect they’re looking for. I never got too deep into using grayscale markers at deeper value ranges- i’m most comfortable doing line-art in pencil over blue pencil or tracing via lightbox.

    • @mothtransman

      i think the point they’re trying to make is about the intentionality of it all. the first one wasn’t done as a stylistic choice and everything was given the same treatment in regards to the amount of focus put on it. the second one is much more intentional with its lines and where it puts the detail and draws the eye to. stylization is very cool when done right, but there’s a difference between stylized consistent line weight and no pen pressure/expressiveness. but to reiterate the video, if you’re at the skill level where that’s what works for you, there’s nothing wrong with that! :)
