Actually I think it depends on the start, because yes the colision mechanic is programmed, but when you start in another order and with other directions, you will get a new chaotic "song"
I think "chaos theory" applies, which is to say that a infinitessimally small change to the initial conditions would lead rapidly to an entirely different musical universe. That doesn't mean it's not deterministic, because this is governed by an algorithm.
